Of cabbages, kings and a meeting of Blog war protagonists

AnimatedCatsLitterRollerCoasterRide

Leon Bertrand and I have   a face to face meet up with Scott Bridges planned for today which should be quite interesting to say the least, because how often do you get a chance to meet up with your online “enemy ” after a decade long blog war?

Hold on comrades this could be an interesting ride

It is also of no small importance that this manual belongs to the Shuja’iya Brigade. The IDF fought a major battle in the neighborhood of Shuja’iya, which had been turned into a terrorist stronghold. The discovery of this manual suggests that the destruction in Shuja’iya was always part of Hamas’ plan.

In a portion entitled “Limiting the Use of Weapons,” the manual explains that:

The soldiers and commanders (of the IDF) must limit their use of weapons and tactics that lead to the harm and unnecessary loss of people and [destruction of] civilian facilities. It is difficult for them to get the most use out of their firearms, especially of supporting fire [e.g. artillery].

Clearly Hamas knows the IDF will limit its use of weapons in order to avoid harming civilians, including refraining from using larger firepower to support for infantry.

The manual goes on to explain that the “presence of civilians are pockets of resistance” that cause three major problems for advancing troops:

(1) Problems with opening fire
(2) Problems in controlling the civilian population during operations and afterward
(3) Assurance of supplying medical care to civilians who need it

Lastly, the manual discusses the benefits for Hamas when civilian homes are destroyed:

The destruction of civilian homes: This increases the hatred of the citizens towards the attackers [the IDF] and increases their gathering [support] around the city defenders (resistance forces[i.e. Hamas]).

It is clear that Hamas actually desires the destruction of homes and civilian infrastructure, knowing it will increase hatred for the IDF and support their fighters.

How many blood soaked shopping trolleys will it take before the penny will drop on the obvious?

There can be few people in this country who have not heard about the still ongoing atrocity in Nairobi as followers of that  so called “religion of peace” murder innocent shoppers  in what is just another in the very long line of attempts at intimidation and religious brutality. Kenya is of course a soft target with a police service and military that is not well versed in the problem or the best ways to quickly bring the Muslim scum-bags the “glorious” death that they dream of.

She heard the first grenade go off and said, ‘What was that, dad?’," her mother Linda told the station. "Then he heard the guns firing and he knew exactly what it was and he said, ‘We’re under attack, everybody to the back of the room'." The 23-year-old from Eltham, who is reportedly the ex-partner of Carlton captain Marc Murphy, spent six hours trapped in the store before she could run to safety. In addition to the 68 people killed, who included women and children, 205 people were wounded. Government officials said the wounded ranged in age from two to 78. Kenyan commandos cornered several of the assailants on the third floor of the mall, and as of Sunday night they were still reportedly holding hostages, more than 18 hours after the attack began (about 8pm AEST on Saturday). Western officials said they expected the assailants would fight to the death, although the Kenyan news media reported one wounded gunman had been captured but later died in hospital. Several witnesses said one of the assailants was a woman. As the police cleared sections of the mall, terrified shoppers emerged with their hands up and collapsed in each other's arms. Victims soaked in their own blood were wheeled out in shopping trolleys. Yet time and time again the apologists for Islam will denounce the decent people like yours truly or our own esteemed GD for being overtly critical of Islam. When its clear that the object before us is a digging implement then lets just admit that its a bloody shovel and not pretend that only some of them are used to dig graves.

How many blood soaked shopping trolleys will it take before the penny will drop on the obvious? The problem is Islam, its a bigoted intolerant faith that has at its core the instruction for its followers to convert or kill all unbelievers until the entire planet is under the heal of its totalitarian ideology. We would not dream of importing Neo-Nazis and allowing them to become Australians so they could create the Fourth Reich down-under chapter, yet the Luvvies would have us import followers of Islam by the boat load. Frankly if anyone actively subscribes to an ideology that endorses the ongoing atrocity in Nairobi then they should have no place in this country. End of story.

Ghosts of events as yet unseen

-Rudd  was dead, to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. The register of his burial was signed by the clergyman, the clerk, the undertaker, and the chief mourner. Gillard signed it. And Gillard’s name was good upon ‘Change, for anything she chose to put her hand to.

Old Rudd was as dead as a door-nail.

Mind! I don’t mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what there is particularly dead about a door-nail. I might have been inclined, myself, to regard a coffin-nail as the deadest piece of ironmongery in the trade. But the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile; and my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the Country’s done for. You will therefore permit me to repeat, emphatically, that Rudd was as dead as a door-nail.

Gillard knew he was dead? Of course she did. How could it be otherwise? Gillard and he were partners for I don’t know how many years. Gillard was his sole executor, his sole administrator, his sole assign, his sole residuary legatee, his sole friend, and sole mourner. And even Gillard was not so dreadfully cut up by the sad event, but that he was an excellent man of business on the very day of the funeral, and solemnised it with an undoubted bargain.

Of course unlike the classic I allude to above there will be no three shades that come to change Gillard from the unelectable political pariah  to something admirable as Dickens did with the uplifting conclusion to his Christmas Carrol. Further Rudd, like Marley. caries far too bigger a chain forged by the follies of his tenure to once again walk among the politically electable. So this is as they say the final week during which Rudd can make a run to burst through the barrier between the political after life and the corporeal plane of the leadership. I think that he actually finds the political after life quite comfortable to be frank     and as there seems to be NOTHING that will turn things around for Labor maybe there is some wisdom in him doing just that. If for no other reason than to make Gillard take electoral responsibility for the savage defeat that she as so doggedly worked towards over the last three years.

There will be no richly roasted goose for the Labor party on September 14 only the supper of bitter regrets and recriminations…

We should never forget that the cooks responsible for this unpalatable meal are these two:

No one gives a Gonski about anything Gillard says

When you are impotent its rather difficult to convince your paramours that you can give them a scorching seeing to if they don’t do as you wish. thus I find that Gillard’s threats to the states about their majority  disinterest in he “Gonski ” education plan rather pathetic and just a little bit sad.

Lets be honest here, NO ONE expects that Labor will be in office in six months time let alone the next six years which means that all of the threats about future funding are ridiculous and it demeans the office of Prime minister for Gillard to keep up the pretence that Labor stands a snowflake’s chance in hell of making good on anything it promises between now and September 14. Even if we were not in an Ersatz election campaign and Labor was not facing defeat beyond that which it received in Queensland there is the not so small matter of Gillard’s form when it comes to truthfulness which the voters are reminded of every time they pay their energy bills which always invoke a memory of the foundational lie of the Gillard incumbency ” There will be no carbon tax under a government that I lead ” still echoes for me when ever Gillard says anything at all and I’m very sure I’m not the only one who can’t forget or forgive her for such dishonesty.  If there is a song that epitomises Labor’s stench to the voters it has to be this:

While the alternative is not perfect it does not need to be to be better than the disaster that is the Labor party that is disintegrating more every new day. the only bright spot for Labor true believers has to be the fact that the  loopy Greens are likewise in substantial  decline and now struggle to get into double digits.

Waleed Aly and The Game of Drones

Like a lot of minions of the left Waleed Aly has a rather warped view of the morality of war and he is very clearly bemoaning the fact that in the age of the drone the Jihadists really have no where to hide. The sadly amusing part of his argument against drones is that that he whines about the prospect of non combatants being killed when Jihadists are taken out yet he does not say a single word about just why the strikes are both necessary and justified.  Like a lot of people who follow the religion of peace he seems incapable of enunciating any sort of criticism of the Jihadists and their “struggle” with modern secular society.  Without their ever present ideology of death to unbelievers and the establishment of a global caliphate not a single helfire missile would need to be fired from a drone.

Then in his conclusion Waleed gives us the “lack of honour ” argument about the use of drones:

Pardon me Waleed but your argument begs the question of the morality of the deliberate  targeting of civilians by the Jihadists that you are implicitly defending here.  They have killed many thousands of civilians in the name of your Prophet and your God  and yet you whine a bout the possibility of a “non combatant” being killed while in the company of a Jihadist? Call me mad if you like but when it comes to the relative virtue of each side in the war against the Jihadists the Americans come out orders of magnitude better. None the less war in all of its guises is a dirty and bloody business where nothing matters if you don’t win.  Its not a game where each side will  respect a set of rules invented by the arm chair moralists its always about that final move that will make your side prevail.

Waleed has obviously been reading too much King Arthur and not enough Game of Thrones if he thinks that you can defeat a dishonourable enemy like the Jihadists by treating war against them like a sporting competition. The currency of the Jihadists is that anything goes against the unbelievers and before the development of the killer drone the only way to destroy them required  many boots on foreign soil, now it doesn’t and I for one fully endorse the use of technology  that makes every big league Jihadist tremble with fear every time he steps out into the open, or drives from one spider hole to the next, The Jihadists started the “war on terror” so its only justice that now they should live in the terror of the unannounced death from above.

Cheers Comrades

sadly too true

Waleed needs to look at the Jihadists before he condemns the use of drones

Muslims must reject jihad

Pat , as usual, spells out the only way that “moderate” Muslims should behave in a civilised society and it saddens me greatly that they are unlikely to do as he suggests.

The million hit Blog

survivor1

If you are reading this it means that the hit counter for the Sandpit has ticked over the one million hits milestone  which is worthy of note in anyone’s  language, more so in the case of this blog because for most of its existence there has been a sustained campaign to harass and denigrate yours truly and the other authors who post here.

breaking_news_animated

I started blogging on a whim mainly because I needed to register with Blogger to comment on an Anti Andrew Bolt  blog, I have  changed the name and the platform on which this blog is published several times until I settled upon the current title and I am  very happy to n0w share this blog with three other regular contributors who ad greatly to the diversity of  the posts published here. The heart of blogging is not so much the posts themselves but rather it is the comment threads that those posts inspire and over the years we have had some very lively discussion threads that have given their participants lots of fun.

tumblr_mcgfy3btH41rsbrcmo1_500

You see fun is what this blog is all about. Even when we have covered the most serious issues I like to think that we can do so with enough levity to keep it friendly.

So in the style of an awards night I have to offer a very sincere thank you, firstly to my fellow authors Ray Dixon (and his alter ego SockPuppet),  GD and to  Leon Bertrand, further I want to thank our readers for coming back on a regular basis to enjoy the musings on this page especially those of you who disagree with what I and the other authors write because without that disagreement we would not have the lively arguments in the comment threads. I also want to thank my wife and family for putting up with this sometimes grumpy blogger on a daily basis and last but not least I want to thank our family dog Bonnie for reminding me on a regular basis that I am only human and that nothing is more important than “walkies “

Cheers to all of our Comrades
