Teenage hook-up sex leaves feminism behind arse up

By SockPuppet (a interested party)

Hi there allyou long suffering Sock fans who have waited so long for my return to Chez Hall. Well here Iam back for another chameleon performance a curtain call or a whole newseries – takeyour pick. I dunno if I will stay or go but I just I thought it was about time you were given a pickmeup dose of what the Sock does best – you know the polioemic polarisation of the blogging world.

Now what subject I hear you ask would so grab my attention and interest that it would stir me from my den of inequity caravan with the lovely Laura to write another groundbreaking cuttingedge peace of literatti genius? What? Well bloody sex of course you idiots. And thats what Im here to talk about:

S.E.X.

And lotsofit.

Well lots ofit for some people…..Especially the young people or so it seems. Here is my groundbreaking peace on Sex and the modern teenager and how feminism has gone arse about on itself. Below.

I mean on the line below the …………… (dots)

………………………………………………………………………..

Hook-up-girls

I have to wunder how dumb some people are when it comes to the old saying of “be careful what you wish (or push) for” because it might not turn out to be so f*ucken great afterall.

Just look at 40-sumthing feminist journo Wendy Squires from the SMH. Wendy has gone out and studied the sexual habits of young people today for a book shes writing about … well about young peoples sex habits of course. And she is just so saddened and worried that young girls today are having multiple sex partners without even a real date let alone a relationship and this is not what she had in mind for the feminist future cos she reckons the girls are just being sluts and its all the fault of young men who look at porn. Go figure.

Hear is what she found (I apologise for reproducting most of Wendy’s piece here but its necessary cos the devil is in the detail my friends):

Speak to sexually active teenage girls today, as I have been lately while researching a book, and it is evident that many feel the only means they have to beguile men is through sex. And even then, they feel a need to be overt with their flirt.

All those too-tight, too-short and too-low dresses aren’t, as I once thought, what girls wear to be appear fashionable to their female peers. They wear them, I’m informed, to look sexy to men.

Whoa, stop right there. You thought girls dress like that to appeal to there girlfriends? Did you think they were like all lesos or something? Its news to you that girls like to look sexy for men? Sheez. Read on:

‘‘I don’t really care what my friends wear out,’’ one young lady told me, ‘‘unless it makes them look hotter than I do.’’

‘‘You have to be hot to attract a guy,’’ another 16-year-old girl asserted. ‘‘If you don’t look sexy, then they won’t think you are interested in them.’’ And once you attract said guy? ‘‘You need to have sex with them. If you don’t, they’ll just go with someone who will.’’

One just-turned-17-year-old, who will remain anonymous so her mother doesn’t kill her and then me, confessed that she has had sex with seven guys ‘‘so far’’. One she considered a boyfriend, because they went out for three months. The others? All ‘‘hook-ups’’.

Stop #2: So lets see – she has Just turned 17 and had 6 insta-fucks with hook-ups already? That’s good going girlie and at that rate by the time your 20 you will have about 50 notches on your belt. What a catch you will make for some bloke one day – any thoughts of ever getting married and having kids with someone? Think again. Back to the fem journo:

A hook-up, it seems, doesn’t normally entail even eye contact, that blush-inducing chemistry when spotting someone attractive across a crowded room. Instead, I’m assured, a hook-up can start on a dating app such as Tinder and often entails posting a sexy selfie and then volleying some flirty texts back and forth, often soon followed by a photo of a would-be date’s erect penis.

This last part I found hard to believe, naively assuming that young men today were as awkward and embarrassed about their bodies as they were in my day. That was until several of the girls I spoke to pulled out their smart phones to show me said photos, with one girl exclaiming upon seeing an erect member on her friend’s screen, ‘‘I think I got sent that too!’’

Stop again – I think Wendy shoulda thought about that last line with the exclamation mark she added making it read like the girl said ”I think I got sent that tool”. Well she did didn’t she? You can carry on reading now:

From there, I learn, the hook-up – a face-to-face meeting – occurs, which usually entails sex. ‘‘Usually just oral,’’ one young girl reassured me, seeing no irony in the ‘‘just.’’ ‘‘Everyone does it!’’” she added with eye-roll upon witnessing my obvious horror.

‘‘Why would you meet up with them if you’re not going to have sex?’’ another says, in a tone that implies I am way down the spectrum of coolness. ‘‘That’s just teasing.’’

Comment break: “Usually JUST oral”? Oh I see if you just give a bloke a blowjob it doesn’t count? It counts for him young lady. Back to the story:

‘‘But, don’t you worry that this is all too much, too soon? That you’ll wind up jaded or regret your choices?’’ I splutter, unable to contain myself. Rightfully, I receive an earful in response.

‘‘And you call yourself a feminist!’’ one young friend admonished. ‘‘Now girls are acting like men always have, there’s supposed to be a shame around it. How hypocritical!’’

It is true I find this issue a conundrum, one that tests my own moral boundaries and ethics. As a feminist, I agree I should be supporting young women to live their lives the way they wish; reinforcing the idea that it is their bodies and their choices.

Whoa, whoa and whoa again there Wendy. Another break and groundbreaking comment is needed here:

Deary when you say “As a feminist, I agree I should be supporting young women to live their lives the way they wish ..blah, blah and blah….” what you are really saying (to there ears and unformed brains) is this:

“I support young women becoming young sluts and degrading themselves by having sex with as many blokes as they like within a few minutes of meeting them (oh after seeing their cocks on there phones of course)”.

Thats the message they get lady – they are not exactly Einsteins remember? Back to Wendy:

But, perhaps because I have also have been talking to a lot of young men lately who are either participating in or witnessing hook-up culture, I must confess I am left in despair.

From what I’m hearing, young men are happy to participate in casual sex and claim they are still friends with lots of girls they have ‘‘been’’ with. However, ask if they would consider any of them as girlfriend material and a vast majority respond with a vehement ‘‘no way’’.

‘‘I would never go out with a girl who’s been with my mates,’’ one 17-year-old told me. His friend, 19, agrees. ‘‘No guys go out with girls who screw around.’’

Comment intervention time again:

Oh, I have some news for you Wendy – blokes have always thought that way about girls who give it out so freely. Didn’t you know? Or did you think blokes would/should respect girls who fuckalot and don’t care who with and how often? Wendy continues:

Now, before I get inundated with protests and/or abuse on Twitter, let me say that, yes, I understand this is not all kids today and, yes, I am painting my snapshot of the situation with broad brush strokes.

But I will not apologise for saying I find it beyond sad that sexuality has been reduced to the sexual act itself. That the trust, tenderness and affection that I was offered in my sexual first encounters is not always afforded to girls today by porn-educated young men (most of the girls I spoke to admitted they are yet to have an orgasm from a sexual encounter). That there is not always a sense of appreciation that comes with such intimacy.

While I think it is commendable that young women feel in charge of their bodies and lives, I do wonder whether it comes at the cost of what is at our feminine core, whether through nature or nurture, and that is a desire to feel secure and respected in our romantic relationships.

Wait up there Wendy: So you think its all the fault of the “porn-educated young men” and that is why young girls are putting out so easily and not even having orgasms just sex for sex’s sake cost thats what guys are making them do? Look deary, here is some more news for you:

Young men have ALWAYS wanted sex with every half attractive chick they meet. Nothing has changed in that respect porn or no porn, Tinder or no tinder and mobile phones with photos of there cocks or not. Do you geddit? Blokes will have sex if girls let them. That is the way it has always been and will always be.

Here is some more news for you honey:

No one made these girls give insta-fucks and blowjobs on the spot to these young men they hardly know. No one except them and maybe you and your kind who told them it was okay to have sex like men (or sex like the ‘Sluts in the City’ show what was on TV).

And finally Wendy wraps it all up:

Of all the young girls I’ve spoken to recently, I’d say 90 per cent told me they want to get married and have kids one day. All implied they are aware that men are less likely to commit than in generations past, yet all still wanted to be an exception to this rule.

Few believe their actions now will reduce their chances of this happening, and I sincerely hope it is the case. More than that, I hope they don’t end up feeling powerless when it comes to love.

Well Wendy you pushed for sexual equality remember?

This IS what you and your fellow feminists wished for honey, a generation of girls whose only hope of having kids is to get themselves knocked up and bring up the kid as a single mum (thats happening a lot already btw).

Either that or find some less-than-a-real-man loser who actually falls ‘in love’ with one of these slackers and marries her even though she does not and cannot love him back on account of shes basically (and literally) f*cked her own value and self worth to death.

You see Wendy here is the real truth.

The reality.

The fundamental law of the men v women world that you and these young slags have either forgotten or never bothered to work out in the first place.

Here it is.

On the next line:

Real men do not respect or marry girls who have no respect for themselves and who fuck around like men do.

No that is not sexist … it is truth.

(PS: I showed this to Laura and she agreed but says she does not care. Shes a slut and she knows it. She does not want kids just more Bundy & Coke and lots of sex with lots of guys – and girls. Now even I can respect that type of honesty)

(PPS: Iain you dont have a ‘sex’ category – am I in the right place?

“Political Correctness” in economic terms

Bm9C5MLCUAA7Asy

Found a nice piece about “political correctness” That I wish to share with the Sandpit’s readers:

PC-brigadiers behave exactly like owners of a positional good who panic because wider availability of that good threatens their social status. The PC brigade has been highly successful in creating new social taboos, but their success is their very problem. Moral superiority is a prime example of a positional good, because we cannot all be morally superior to each other. Once you have successfully exorcised a word or an opinion, how do you differentiate yourself from others now? You need new things to be outraged about, new ways of asserting your imagined moral superiority.

You can do that by insisting that the no real progress has been made, that your issue is as real as ever, and just manifests itself in more subtle ways. Many people may imitate your rhetoric, but they do not really mean it, they are faking it, they are poseurs (here’s a nice example). You can also hugely inflate the definition of an existing offense (plenty of nice examples here.) Or you can move on to discover new things to label ‘offensive’, new victim groups, new patterns of dominance and oppression.

If I am right, then Political Correctness is really just a special form of conspicuous consumption, leading to a zero-sum status race. The fact that PC fans are still constantly outraged, despite the fact that PC has never been so pervasive, would then just be a special form of the Easterlin Paradox.

Keep up the good work, spiked team. But bear in mind that you are up against a powerful economic force.

NBA, Racism and Jeremy Clarkson

Those of us who read Orwell’s 1984 with a libertarian ethos will always have the greatest concerns about the notion of any thought being a crime but in the last few days we have seen some of the most egregious examples of the notion of the thought police being both real and crushing the face of humanity under the jackboot  of political correctness.

The first example that  I will touch on only briefly was that of  the  owner of a NBA franchise making a genuinely racist remark that was overheard, recorded and then broadcast on social media, as a consequence he has been stripped of his franchise, and “fined” millions of dollars. All of this has been loudly applauded on social media but I can’t help thinking that those who have been cheering so loudly may soon  rue the day when  it became a social crime to say something “offensive”. The reaction has been a rather horrible example of mob rule and the negative potential  of social and mass  media.

The next item in this litany of political correctness gone mad has been the bullying of Jeremy Clarkson for what can only be described as a slip of the tongue. Like Jezza I learned the eneny meany mineie mo rhyme in its original form where one caught the “nigger” by his toe and I also read the Noddy books as a child which had “golliwogs” as the the primary  naughty toys.  Such things learnt in childhood are the very last thing to go for the senile and for the the still cognitively functional such notions and well learned rhymes do not lend themselves to change without a great deal of conscious thought.  Thus I have no trouble believing that what Clarkson said while trying to deliver his spiel was genuinely unintended and even if it had been intentional I don’t believe that there was any “racist intent” here. None the less the scions of political correctness have leaped upon this off air faux pas with a great deal of malice and spite. Anyone would think that Clarkson was a Kiddie fiddler from the amount of rancour vindictiveness expressed on social media when ion fact he is just a middle aged petrol head who has a good line in witty chat about cars.

By all means lets get upset at deliberate and blatant racism but the quest for linguistic purity that  we are seeing in our age of social media is utterly obscene and if only the loudest voices calling for Clarkson’s sacking would think for just a minute they might just realise that what they are calling for will not make the tiniest bit of difference to the sum total of racism on the planet. All it will do is restrict free speech and honest discourse.

I hope that readers can forgive me the immodesty of this but against my expectations I managed to get another tweet up on QandA .  I am quite pleased about this and I can’t help thinking that there has to be a good academic study in just how the ABC decides which tweets to put up on to the screen.

The late #Charlotte Dawson, Twitter and easy anonymity on the internet.

Ah be prepared for another large outpouring of “grief” for the death of another “celebrity” and the scions of our own media go into overdrive to praise Charlotte Dawson who committed suicide in Sydney on Saturday . I have been quietly watching this story unfold and examining the reactions from the social media . Especially interesting has been the attribution of blame to those shining lights of humanity who populate the nameless denizens  of Twitter. Apparently Dawson was seriously addicted to arguing with them and subject to some rather nasty taunting and suggestions that she should kill herself. Now its probably impossible to quantify just how much this sort of online cruelty influenced that fatal appointment with a rope but given the revelations that Dawson’s whole life and career was in some sort of meltdown and her underlying depression  I tend to think that such a suggestion is rather too simplistic.  None the less there has been quite a few commentators to the news story suggesting (quite correctly IMHO) that easy anonymity is a great contributor to the meanness, cruelty  and level of rancour shown to Dawson in her social media immersion.

At the very least there is a good argument that Twitter and all social media should be required to know who it is that is signing up for access to their service so that those who are using it as a medium for harassment or pernicious cruelty can be both traceable and accountable. Of course there will be those who will make the counter argument that ” the internet” should be free and that there is no need for any accountability beyond the disdain/disapproval  of other users. From my experience this is a nonsense especially in something as ephemeral as Twitter, even more so when those who misuse social media just keep reinventing themselves if it becomes untenable to continue with one particular online identity.  More and more as the boundary between our online and “In Real Life” existence become ever more blurred and merged the more we have to extend the accountability that we have in the real world to our existence online and the sooner that this is achieved the better all of our lives will be.

Bits and Bobs

Politics

Its been rather amusing to watch minions of the left spinning the by-election in the seat of Griffith, Its seems most likely that Labor will retain the seat but with a noticeably slimmer margin than was the case under the recently departed Brother Number one. This salient t fact makes it very hard for them to claim that the by election is a slap in the face for Tony Abbott or his  candidate in the seat, Bill Glasson.

The lesson that we conservatives can take form the whole experience is that the Abbott government, and the state  government led by Campbell Newman  must therefore be far less unpopular  that the pundits of the left  would have us believe.

Sport

As for the winter Olympics well in this house its a total non starter, If I have seen half a second its been a case of reacting like a scalded rabbit to get the remote to send the pictures to another channel, even a shopping channel, rather than watch any of the inanity, I must be getting even more cynical about the Olympic games as a concept because I just can’t get excite d about meat heads spending years practicing silly activities that have no meaning and then trying to out do each other. Yawn-full does not come close to describing how I feel about such things especially as we seem to have an unstoppable and eternal cacophony of raving about one sport on the TV. Heck since I got the T-Box we even have a channel devoted to AFL. Now if anyone knows how to permanently skip that one and the “cartoon Network I would really appreciate you sharing…

Project

Ive been committing one of my periodic redesigns of the arrangements of my room here at Chez Hall  with the aim of de-cluttering and giving myself a greater feeling of space to that end I think that I will need to make some shelves to house my collection of DVDs and PS3 games. I have been looking at just buying a ready-made bookshelf but every one that I have seen seems to be far too deep, too heavy for me to move and too expensive. Looks like the best option will be to use metal brackets screwed to the wall  There is a spot where I think that I can have half a dozen shelves that are nearly 2m long which should hold quite few disc cases. This should do the trick for a while. Hopefully it won’t take me months to finish this.

Pain

One of the ironies of my condition is that its a rather long drive to visit the pain clinic, in fact that drive is a bit longer that my driving threshold but its probably worth it to get the opinion and advice of the experts on the best way to manage. I have been having rather more bad than good days of late so I am going to inquire about just how I will know when to ask for a higher dosage of my Norspan patches. I am most reluctant to do an Oliver Twist and ask for more but I also want to avoid  taking too much paracetamol /codeine for breakthrough pain because that has serious effects on your liver, further I don’t want to be so medicated that I can’t drive or look after my children’s needs. Thirdly each step to a higher dose is one less step that you can take if things get really bad.

Entertainment

Just finished watching Season three of Haven which has been the best one yet in this franchise. I love DVD box sets because they allow you to get fully immersed into an imagined universe without the intrusion of ads or having to wait for each new episode to screen. There are however some shows that are just awful, We have abandoned watching “Broadchurch” its well made and all that but strewth its bleak and so angst riven that I think it fails as any sort of entertainment, you really should not have to work that hard to enjoy something.

Twitter

Those of you who follow me on twitter may have noticed a small spike in my output of late which is largely due to me having got a new phone that allows me to connect to the net via our home Wi-fi this has allowed me to do things like check Twitter on the toot or when I have had to cede access to the computer to the wife and kids. I am sort of getting the attraction and potential for addiction to 140 characters and the challenge to be witty and clever in the shorter form of the social media game.    Currently able to resist posting pictures of trouser draped feet taken while emptying my bowels though. 🙂

Morris

Not been up too doing much on the Morris of late but I did go to the Toowoomba swap meet and even though it cost me a couple of days flat on my back zonked out on painkillers I had a good time and bought a few things like spare carburetors, at a couple of bucks each, a heater assembly  from a Mini Moke at $10 and a lovely air filter assembly from a Mini for $10, As many who tinker with old cars will understand its the thrill of the chase rather than completion of a project that gives you the satisfaction with these sorts of projects. But I do feel that I am getting close to the point at which I will lift the entire body off the chassis so that It can have the skin properly welded to it and then it can be finished well enough for it to be painted I am planning to make a rotisserie for the body welding job though because If I don’t want too much heat distortion then I am going to have to dance around doing lots of very small tacks that are allows to cool before the welder touches down next to them again.

Kids

My wife would dearly love it if one of our offspring were to become as dedicated to music as she is but so far my daughter has disavowed formal lessons even though she has some natural  talent and obvious musical ability, she actually plays the recorder very well and sings nicely so maybe there is hope yet but I also think that, mother daughter rivalry is in play and that her disinterest in music is an artifact of that inevitable teenage desire for differentiation. My son has begun having lessons to learn the electric guitar and I have been been hoping that he will stick too it more than he did with piano and acoustic guitar. So to help things along I’m planning to buy a PS3 game that I have heard  about called “Rocksmith”  that allows you to plug in any real guitar into your PS3 and play along. If it works for the boy I may just earn a few brownie points with the wife as well, heck the boy may even be able to join GD in his eternal quest for falafals!

The left dancing on air

how the other side see things, sadly its utterly delusional. click for source

This blog has no trouble or problem with contrary viewpoints, in fact as site owner I just love hosting posts like Ray’s effort yesterday even though I absolutely disagree with the premise and execution of Ray’s argument. That is because unlike the sad and deluded Mr Taylor I both understand and respect political diversity. As one of the “right-wingers” he alludes to in his piece I have to totally disagree with his claims about a lack of logic or rhetorical rigour. I was banned from his blog because I had a habit of forensically dissecting the arguments of the regulars there and thus making their arguments look very silly indeed. You see Taylor is a perfect example of just why the left is losing the argument in this election. Put simply they don’t understand that they do not have a monopoly on virtue and that it takes generosity to have civil debate about issues of politics. I foresee a very dreary time in the next couple of weeks on the blogs of the left Heck we may even see a few of their stalwarts on suicide watch because its hard being on the losing side when you have been fighting the good fight in the lead up to the election (as I well recall from 2007 and 2010) Ah well it must be time to remind them that tomorrow is another day  when they will have to face the defeat of a bad Labor government, So while they consider the pills and booze we more sensible “right-wingers” can enjoy the air-dance being performed by the left.

Its the “Selfie” election

Well it will surprise no one at all that the election has finally been called for September 7 as Kevin himself announced to me in my in box:

E;ection1

Ah now we can get down to some real scrutiny and blow by blow game commentary, because no matter how dour and serious players (or supporters)on either team are now that the election is out of the faux campaign and unto the Pukka election process we can have a bit of fun with it and still have respect for the process.

Although Rudd has been leading us on a merry dance for the last month I don’t expect anything truly new or innovative during the campaign except for many silly “selfies” posted on twitter and an attempt to use the social media as a campaigning tool.

Finally lets not forget that all Rudd has to do to “win” at a personal level is to not loose in a landslide anything more than that will make him a saviour of the party and we all know that is the prize he is really fighting for, and even an Abbott government won’t deny him that.
