Taking away the Climate Change gravy train

In a statement Mr Hunt confirmed that he had dissolved the commission. "As part of the Coalition’s plans to streamline government processes and avoid duplication of services, the commission’s function to provide independent advice and analysis on climate change will be continued by the Department of the Environment," he said. "I would like to recognise the efforts of the Climate Commission in providing information on climate change to the Australian public and thank all the commissioners for their work. "This decision will save the budget $580,000 in 2013-14 and an annual funding of up to $1.6 million in future years." A spokeswoman for Mr Hunt said he had also approved a brief to begin drafting a bill to repeal the separate Climate Change Authority as part of the Coalition’s broader efforts to remove the carbon price. If ever you wanted to define a partisan quango the climate commission would be the perfect exemplar populated only by the most devout followers of the apocalyptic green faith it has not once told us anything of value that was not already widely circulated in the media. when it comes to feather bedding this is one of the worst examples you can conceive of. That is the thing though that the Luvvies who read the Age et al do not seem able to get their heads around, because even if you believe in anthropomorphic climate change you can still applaud this saving of money spent on an organisation that does absolutely NOTHING to solve the problem (assuming that the problem is real).

While it is fair enough to feel some empathy for the followers of the faith (like our sometimes commentator Damian Doyle AKA “toaf”) who will now be searching for alternative employment  its hard for me not to think that maybe if they had been doing something more socially useful in the first place then they would not now be putting Centerlink on their speed dial list.

Take the pledge

Ah what joy the latte Sippers of the world bring to this aging conservative especially as they bend over backwards to prove with this post that they are absolutely enmeshed in rather puerile group-think. In any event I invite my dear readers to check out this post and be amazed at how 37 (at the time it came to my attention ) of them cut and pasting the same paragraph.
Any one for lamb chops?

linky

This sort of political posturing is rather futile but also rather sadly amusing,

Say No to Tony

“I hereby pledge to do my utmost in 2013 and beyond to ensure that Tony Abbott never becomes the Prime Minister of Australia.

I will engage on the issues, on matters of character and on the facts that demonstrate that Tony Abbott is unsuitable to be Prime Minister of Australia.  I know that any government lead by Tony Abbott, or any government that follows his lead, would inflict deep and lasting damage to the fabric of Australia that we trust and depend upon.  I will expend any and all energies required to ensure Tony Abbott and his values are kept from The Lodge and the government benches in Parliament.”

To take the pledge copy and paste the pledge with your name to the comments below.

A pleasant surprise in today’s Age

The Age is usually such a rabid AGW advocate but maybe this is the start of a new more balanced approach to the issue of climate change. Maybe its just a the removal of the execrable Jo Chandler from their staff that has seen them mellow, most likely its just a reflection of the fact that the interregnum between Christmas and new year is a time when regular writers are away on leave and the need for copy to fill the paper allows them to cast a wider net than usual. No matter what the reasons for its publication I found the piece by John Spooner most refreshing and worthy of praise:

I hope that the real reason that this piece has got such a prominent place in today’s Age is that the minions at Fairfax are finally realising that they have hitched their faith to a false religion and that its apparently golden idols are nothing but  tat and cheap wax,  that the cold hard light of truth is turning them into the misshapen formless blobs that we sceptics always thought that they were.

Or NOT!

Or NOT!

“Forgive them father, for they know not what they do”

Another  climate change conference has ended without agreement, like just who could have seen that coming? These Synods of the Green faith are ever thus. Their priests sing the usual elements of the liturgy and give the faithful the fire and brimstone  prophecies that are the staple of this religion but their conversion rate is very low indeed these days. Of course there are always a couple of fools who jump up in their seats and shout Hallelujah very loudly in an attempt to convince themselves as much as anyone else that they are such pious followers of the true faith but when even the majority of the faithful are more reticent as the value  of such meetings becomes even more evident.

We all want to live in a cleaner world, a world where humanity steps lightly enough upon the earth that our civilisation  will be sustainable and enduring but this pernicious Green religion will never achieve that because it is intrinsically misanthropic and it relies too much upon misleading memes  like the labelling of Carbon dioxide as a pollutant which leads to some rather convoluted and erroneous arguments  that draw false comparisons about the nature of our impacts upon the planet.

Ah well maybe we should be a little more forgiving for such foolishness, as someone is reported to have said “forgive them father, for they know not what they do”

Sigh  very much, Comrades

 Trust Me

There are times when the death penalty is unquestionably justified, the execution of Mohammad Ajmal Kasab

Despite the fact that hanging is to quick and painless for this class of scum-bag  the short lead time between his trial and execution suggests that a capital case need not be as drawn out and expensive as trails tend to be in the United states when a truly evil man is quickly dispatched.

The Greens get a taste of political reality…

Its one of life’s great ironies that so many of the Greens  come from the more affluent strata of our society and that many of them have enjoyed the fruits of private education yet their party has been fiercely opposed to any contribution to private schooling from the public purse, Maybe its because they feel guilt about their histories  personal privilege and seek some sort of socialist atonement by becoming such fervent advocates for public schooling. One can only speculate about how the Greens supporters will react to the party now deciding to soften their position on education funding in the wake of their trouncing in state and territory elections:

Personally I think we are seeing a rather desperate rearrangement of the deckchairs on the party liner and those of us who are happy to see this party of religious zealotry about “climate change” and deep left ideology brought low think that there may be a better way:

After-all don’t those pesky Greens believe in composting and  recycling?

James Delingpole promotes Killing the Earth to Save It in Perth

A nice account of James Dellingpole’s book launch in Perth from my good friend Matt Hayden:

Matt offers some interesting observations about the changing demographics of Climate change sceptics but I can’t help wondering what our favourite decaf soy latte drinker would have thought of the whole thing.

CO2 not only heats up the planet but it also makes you fat!!!!, well according to the men in white coats it does!

You have got to just love the way that just about everything can be co-opted to the Warminista faith as proof that “climate change is real” But this example is one of the more loopy ones out there.

click for source

Like so many aspects of the Warminista liturgy this argument takes a simple coincidence and elevates it far beyond credible logic or reasoned argument, Is it any wonder that we can see the arse of the Goddess under those new “Green” threads?
