The husband of murdered rape victim Jill Meagher says her killer, Adrian Earnest Bayley, is ‘unrepentantly evil’ and had been let off too many times by the justice system.

A very moving interview with the widower of murdered Melbourne  woman Jill Meagher and the reasons for this man’s grief sadly brings to mind so many of the debates that I have had both at this blog and elsewhere about capital punishment how anyone can think that Adrian Earnest Bayley should be allowed to continue to draw breath horrifies me.  Its a total indictment of the leftist position that sanctions from the bench should be all about reforming the miscreant first and foremost. If ever there was a man who unequivocally deserves the rope its Adrian Earnest Bayley, Instead of that he is going to spend at least the next 35 years is warm cell at which point some learned friend will undoubtedly be arguing that he is reformed and no longer a threat to society…

Be good or be gone from open society, there should be no other options for all non-citizens

The fundamental expectation that we all have of any visitor to our homes is that they be well mannered and respectful of our house rules, and at a national level I reckon its no different so when we have people that we as a community have welcomed and offered our support and succour its entirely reasonable that if  they break our laws and cause grief and suffering to our society that we show them to a seat on the next plane outta here. Frankly we don’t need the sort of bullshit that my fellow Poms have had trying to deport some of the most depraved jihadists and even foreign nationals who are common criminals . All because of England being a signatory to fine sounding international law instruments.  The opposition have been quite vocal of late about a proposed change to our law to quickly deport any non-citizen who commits any offense that may  incur a sentence of a year or more of imprisonment upon conviction.

This sounds about right to me and if we have to denounce aspects of the UN charter to expel undesirable scum-bags then so be it but if the “compassionate”  desire of our friends from the left prevents the deportation of criminal immigrants because they fear “persecution” in their home country then indefinite imprisonment seems fair enough to me. I wonder how many of these foreign criminals will lose all of that “fear” once their choice is leave this country  or spend a very long time at Her Majesty’s pleasure?   Most by my reckoning.

The most interesting thing  for me in the Age piece that I cite here is the Poll at the bottom where  roughly two thirds of the respondents agree with the coalition policy. Given the general lean to the left of the Fairfax demographic this is a significant result indeed.

Muslims must reject jihad

Pat , as usual, spells out the only way that “moderate” Muslims should behave in a civilised society and it saddens me greatly that they are unlikely to do as he suggests.

Cheers Comrades

If we don’t understand now we may not be allowed to know the truth later.

Leon alerted me to this channel on You tube and I have found this piece about the stages of Jihad most illuminating as it explains very well the way tah expedience is the motivator of Muslim behaviour and how we, as non believers should understand the agenda of those who follow the pernicious ideology of Islam and why we should look derisively upon those who make excuses for and dissemble on behalf of the faith.

Its a most sobering presentation presented in a most calm and sober manner, sadly far too many people just don’t want to admit the true nature of the threat posed by totalitarianism of Islam. My only hope here is that the truth will be recognised sooner rather than later , because if we don’t understand now we may not be allowed to know the truth later.

“Mass rape, amputations and killings – why families are fleeing terror in Mali”

There are several commentators here who are very keen to defend the honour of Islam when ever pieces are published here at the Sandpit that are critical of that faith. Well I would be very interested to see what they might say about the exploits Islam in north Africa:

Mass rape, amputations and killings – why families are fleeing terror in Mali

At refugee camps, reports are flooding in of horrific human rights abuses in a country once famous for its music and joyous lifestyle. Mark Townsend reports on the jihadist nightmare in the Sahel

They were told to assemble in Gao’s market place at dusk. A man accused of using tobacco was escorted before the crowd by several members of the al-Qaida splinter group Movement for Tawhid and Jihad in West Africa.

“Then they chopped off his hand. They wanted to show us what they could do,” said Ahmed, 39, a meat trader from the town in northern Mali.

That was not the end of it. The severed hand was tossed into a vat of boiling water. Then, according to Ahmed, the man was pinned down and over the next hour the bent, misshapen hand was sewn crudely back onto his stump. Ahmed, too terrified to disclose his full name, fled Gao the next day, 8 November: “I had to go. I could not live my life.”

Fresh witness accounts such as this, from people arriving smothered in the red Sahel dust that clogs every pore at the refugee camps straddling the border with Burkina Faso, suggest that the situation in northern Mali is deteriorating fast. Given the dangerous situation in the region, it was impossible to verify the accounts, but they were numerous and disturbing.

Islamist militants who seized control of an area larger than the UK six months ago have imposed their ultra-conservative brand of sharia law. The tales recounted suggest a population subjugated by a regime well versed in appalling brutality. Allegations of war crimes include summary executions, mass rape, racism and the targeting of elders by child soldiers recruited by the extremists. Some allege that child soldiers are being forced to rape women.

Its not a pretty picture, but it is one that is entirely due to the pernicious ideology that is Islam and I am at a total loss as to how any reasonable person can think otherwise.

The left’s hero Assange is compromising the security of your family and country

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange gestures as he appears at a window of Ecuadorian Embassy in central London to make a statement to the media and supporters, Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012. Julian Assange entered the embassy in June in an attempt to gain political asylum to prevent him from being extradited to Sweden, where he faces allegations of sex crimes, which he denies. Assange called on the United States to ‘end its witch hunt’ against the WikiLeaks organization. (AP Photo/Sang Tan)

One thing that I like to do here at the Sandpit is to welcome submissions from Guest authors and to day I have something by an occasional commentator who goes by the handle “Kman” its about that white haired Australian holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

I don’t know if you receive the email from GetUp, but it appears that Mary Kostakidos (ex SBS) is appealing through GetUp to “Save Assange” from the death penalty.
Death penalty? How and why would Mary Kostakidos who calls herself a “journalist” write such rubbish?
The only civilians ever executed for espionage in the US (and rightly so) were two Americans who were Communists and were convicted and executed on June 19, 1953, for conspiracy to commit espionage during a time of war. Their charges were related to the passing of information about the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union. This was the only execution of civilians for espionage in United States history. The ability of the Soviet Union to build atomic weapons could have ended the world as we know it in 1962 during the Cuban missile crisis. Also European law, and in particular Swedish law, it is illegal for a Court to agree an extradition to a country where the accused may face the death penalty. This absurd “death penalty” supposedly hanging over Assange’s head though is just another of the excuses and conspiracy hysteria surrounding Assange by his misguided faithful adherents. Some incidentally who are now out of pocket thanks to Assange breaching bail so they lost the bail money they had ponied up.In the GetUp letter Kostakidos refers to a letter in the New York Times but omitted from the quote , but hidden at the very bottom of her letter, was that the authors were Michael Moore and Oliver Stone, hardly the champions of capitalism or the American Government. Moore. The well fed 300lb. multi-millionaire Moore who lives in luxury, once said that the American system is so flawed that Germany should never consider trying to copy it but stay on their correct socialist path. And Oliver Stone like Moore, supports Castro and Communist Cuba .Now if this NYT quote is so important, why does Kostatinos hide the authors at the bottom of her letter? Kostakidos says ,,,”What they’re doing to Julian Assange should terrify us all” …Actually Assange is the head of a new breed of terrorist and what Assange is doing should terrify us all because he is undermining not only the U.S. Government but even our own Government.
Mr. Assange’s detractors accuse him of pursuing a vendetta against the United States. so to does the Leftist U.K. newspaper “The Guardian” .
Now it is not just governments that denounce him: some of his own comrades are abandoning him for what they see as erratic and imperious behavior, and a nearly delusional grandeur unmatched by an awareness that the digital secrets he reveals can have a price in flesh and blood.
The cunning of Julian Assange’s strategy is that he has made everyone complicit in his own private decision to try to sabotage U.S. foreign policy. By his own admission Assange has stated that he “gets immense pleasure in hurting the American Government” and he “wants to bring it down.” The very government that has ensured his freedom and that of the rest of the free world for nearly seventy years.
Yet Kostakidos says ,,,”What they’re doing to Julian Assange should terrify us all” Actually what Assange is doing should terrify us all because by undermining the U.S. Government, he is placing all of us at risk. And for those who may not be aware. Our defense is almost completely dependent on American military might. We live under the U.S.nuclear shield and behind the guns of the US Fleet, which ensures that our sea-lanes are free and able to carry traded goods and oil, which in turn allows you to keep your job, drive your car and pay your mortgage. Our submarine fleet is down to one and even that caught fire the other day. Our defense forces are so miniscule that the U.S.Army alone has more mechanics than we have personnel in our entire ADF. However thanks to Assange ,U.S. intelligence that can warn of attacks on our soil or our citizens overseas is now being compromised, and Kostakidos and GetUp actually want you to support this delusional egotist?

“We will fight for rights to privacy by exposing people’s confidentiality”
“We will fight for property rights by attacking people’s property”
“We will fight against greed and corruption by stealing credit card information”
“We will fight for freedom of speech by hacking the sites of people who disagree with us”
“We will fight for the rights of customers by knocking down the online service, which they all use, for a month”
In its self-contradictory maintenance of its own untraceable operations, it effectively declares itself to be the only agency in the world that is entitled to secrecy. Some find it absurd that the United States should have a larger military than the next 10 nations combined. But that gap in military power has probably been the greatest factor in upholding an international system that, in historical terms, is unique” …Robert Kagan.
The left’s hero Assange is compromising the security of your family and country- and as Cicero said “A nation can survive its fools and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within…

UN seats, table games and hills of beans

So we have won a temporary seat on the  UN security council, pardon me if I don’t do leaps  of joy at this news. As a younger man I really believed that the UN was an thing  of virtue but as i have got older I question its value more and more as its efforts to create and  maintain peace seem more and more futile and ineffectual. Thus I find myself thinking that this whole seat at the big table project from Brother Number (once was) One to be little more than a vanity project from Labor.  Does anyone want to make book on how this “achievement” will be spun? My guess is that Labor will be running ads (or at least running talking points) to the effect That only Labor has worked tirelessly to make Australia take its rightful place in  global politics and that evil Tony Abbott would have us forever amongst the unengaged global rabble…

Can you forgive my cynicism that the whole thing is “much ado about nothing”?

Our place in the world is cemented not by the empty  pretensions of the UN but by the way that we govern our nation domestically, the good governance of both our business and public institutions  and the way that we relate to our trading partners and our neighbors with fairness and equity. Playing table games with the great and powerful players at the UN don’t amount to a hill of beans in this old world …

Go directly to jail, or No virgins for a very long time

click for source

At the risk of being accused of indulging in “Muslim Bashing” I am today rather pleased to see that a group of Jihadists are packing their bags for a little trip across the pond to enjoy the comforts of a US jail, in all likely hood their sojourn there will be long and boring and their dreams of a virgin filled afterlife will be on hold for a very long time  frankly their fate is far better than they deserve and it should provide an example to those who dream of sharia that British and American systems of Justice are not playthings  to be abused  in the name of Allah.

Cheers indeed Comrades
