All the dumb things

I find minions of the left amazingly amusing, in a lets watch fools bash then selves in the face with a hammer sort of way they are often unintentionally hilarious when they are outraged about the most ridiculous matters and there are few that can match the confected outrage over the comments made by Piers Ackerman on this morning’s “Insider’s”  program;

News Limited columnist Piers Akerman has breathed new life into outrage over Prime Minister Julia Gillard being forced to defend the sexuality her partner, Tim Mathieson, by suggesting rumours about Mr Mathieson had been doing the rounds of the Canberra press gallery since 2010.

‘‘A lot of people in the Canberra gallery have been saying the same thing [as Perth radio host Howard Sattler],’’ Mr Akerman said on the ABC Insiders program to the evident shock of co-panelists.

Insiders host Barrie Cassidy immediately denounced Mr Akerman’s comment, saying: ‘‘You’ve just done precisely what Howard Sattler did and passed on rumours and that’s just as pathetic, quite frankly.’’

Mr Akerman initially denied passing on baseless rumours. ‘‘I passed on the same question that people said initially when she moved in. And nobody took it any further and that’s why I’m saying [Sattler] was wrong Barrie,’’ he said.

Later, Mr Akerman delivered an apology to Ms Gillard and Mr Mathieson, who he described as a ‘‘blokey bloke’’. ‘‘If the Prime Minister is watching, as she usually does, I hope she hasn’t taken any offence at anything I’ve said this morning,’’ Mr Akerman said.

Twitter immediately lit up with calls for Mr Akerman’s suspension from the show. The ABC did not return calls.

This sort of reaction is very sadly the reason that the “politically correct” brigade are so loathed and dismissed  and why the ABC are failing in their duty to be fair and balanced. Frankly it showed me that Barry Cassidy, should not be hosting such a program especially as he is “besties” with Tim Matherson Piers is being pilloried for nothing here but that is hardly surprising given how desperate the left are to win against an ascendant conservasphere . That’s the trouble, they have the taste of Howard Satler’s blood on their lips  and now they want more….

A pre breakfast ramble through the news…

I tend to think that at the minions of the far  left will be having a sort of electric orgasm of sorts with the revelation that the NSA has been monitoring the internet, and phone numbers called.  Well all I can say is “big farking deal” its utterly beyond being any sort of threat to anyone’s personal liberty. The  reason that I am so indifferent it is  simply a mater of the scale of the number of transactions by both phone and over the internet; its just so big that no agency has the manpower to watch each and every one of the people  who use modern communications technology.

As for the chap who has outed himself as the source of this story why do I smell the distinct odour of the self-immolation here?  What is it with younger people not respecting the oaths that they agree to when they join the likes of the military or the NSA?  Are we truly living in an age when oaths mean nothing at all?  Are these solemn promises not properly considered by the likes of Bradley Manning and Ed Snowdon?  Oh I am sure that Snowdon like Manning will become darlings of the conspiracy theory nutters and the far left  but  what their treachery really shows us is the anarchy of internationalism. You see last night I actually stayed up and watched the interview with Julian Assauge where he conceded that information that he published from Manning  was of use to the likes of the (thankfully) late Osama bin Laden and he was utterly indifferent to  that reality. Like so many of his ilk he is indifferent to  the the larger implications of his behaviour. Frankly I think hope that he spends many years locked up, either in that tiny room in the Ecuadorian embassy or in a jail cell. The man is clearly an utter egomaniac and nothing more than the leader of a rather seedy secular cult.

What next?

Ah yes who could miss Gillard insisting that under Abbott women won’t be allowed to kill their unborn children with impunity  as they can now do. Heaven in a hand basket have you ever seen such desperate nonsense? The woman is utterly deranged with her brain stuck very firmly into bullshit mode and worse yet she seems to be entirely lacking in any sense of the  dignity of the office she currently holds. Then again its hardly surprising when she has  Brother Number One snapping at her heels, generally I detest Mark Latham but I tend to think that there is more than a speck of truth in his claims on Q&A that Rudd is on a revenge mission and doing his darnedest to ensure that Gillard’s government has the hardest possible fall from what little grace that she has left. If he manages to achieve that then history will judge her far more harshly than it judges Brother Number One. I think that at this point Rudd does not even care about being reinstated , the entire point of his behaviour is to humiliate Gillard. I am reminded of an anecdote told to me by my late father where he reminded me that with in the ALP the real political fight is for dominance within the party rather than electoral success out side of it and the current party is a perfect example of this adage.

All the while a mood of utter despondency has set in among the lefty luvvies they too have given up on there being any sort of good showing from Labor, its almost as if they are beginning the Post mortem on the body of the Gillard government even though it is technically still alive .  However the body of Labor is so diseased that it won’t even be considered for organ donation .

Apologies for the rambling nature of the post  this morning its wet and more than a bit miserable here today…

Hmm I think that calls for Bacon and eggs for a well deserved breaking of my fast.

“Carry on Gillard”or one Hundred days to go!

One hundred  days to go until we get to throw out a very bad Labor government and throw them out we will if the polls are to believed, which given their consistency seems entirely reasonable. The only question for Labor  at this time is all about that most important political virtue of dignity.

If the experience up here in Queensland is anything to go by we will see a long litany of increasingly desperate attempts to smear the coalition. They will fail to get traction and instead you can expect to see these smears blowing up in the faces of those who hope to benefit form the muck. Already the blogs of the left are finding it hard to even publish with the same regularity and enthusiasm that they were showing just a few months  ago.

Already Tony Abbott and the Coalition team  look and sound like government ministers rather than members of the opposition  while Gillard and her crew look and sound like they are acting out a bad  “Carry On” film as they lurch form one policy failure to the next and the party implodes under the weight of its existential despair.

Its not going to be pretty and its bound to get messier but I have been expecting this for the last three years and it does  saddens me  to be right on this occasion. I’m sad for the true believers like Ray who is doing a valiant if futile fight for the Labor light on the hill even though Gillard has all but drowned it under a deluge of slime.

No one gives a Gonski about anything Gillard says

When you are impotent its rather difficult to convince your paramours that you can give them a scorching seeing to if they don’t do as you wish. thus I find that Gillard’s threats to the states about their majority  disinterest in he “Gonski ” education plan rather pathetic and just a little bit sad.

Lets be honest here, NO ONE expects that Labor will be in office in six months time let alone the next six years which means that all of the threats about future funding are ridiculous and it demeans the office of Prime minister for Gillard to keep up the pretence that Labor stands a snowflake’s chance in hell of making good on anything it promises between now and September 14. Even if we were not in an Ersatz election campaign and Labor was not facing defeat beyond that which it received in Queensland there is the not so small matter of Gillard’s form when it comes to truthfulness which the voters are reminded of every time they pay their energy bills which always invoke a memory of the foundational lie of the Gillard incumbency ” There will be no carbon tax under a government that I lead ” still echoes for me when ever Gillard says anything at all and I’m very sure I’m not the only one who can’t forget or forgive her for such dishonesty.  If there is a song that epitomises Labor’s stench to the voters it has to be this:

While the alternative is not perfect it does not need to be to be better than the disaster that is the Labor party that is disintegrating more every new day. the only bright spot for Labor true believers has to be the fact that the  loopy Greens are likewise in substantial  decline and now struggle to get into double digits.

When a party faces the big fall of electoral grace from holding the treasury benches to the desolation and  wilderness of opposition its hardly surprising that old lags who don’t have the stomach for another bid will resign before the fateful poll that they know will end the careers of so many of their fellows. We saw a whole slew of Queensland  Labor members announce that they would not be re-contesting  before Labor suffered the Blight of Anna. Which leads me to the point of this post which is to wonder how many Labor Lags will follow Martin’s lead and step aside before the poll? To be frank  it is a horrible task to campaign when the voters are so disgusted with Labor.   So  I also wonder if Labor will even be able to get candidates  for every seat this time…

The million hit Blog

survivor1

If you are reading this it means that the hit counter for the Sandpit has ticked over the one million hits milestone  which is worthy of note in anyone’s  language, more so in the case of this blog because for most of its existence there has been a sustained campaign to harass and denigrate yours truly and the other authors who post here.

breaking_news_animated

I started blogging on a whim mainly because I needed to register with Blogger to comment on an Anti Andrew Bolt  blog, I have  changed the name and the platform on which this blog is published several times until I settled upon the current title and I am  very happy to n0w share this blog with three other regular contributors who ad greatly to the diversity of  the posts published here. The heart of blogging is not so much the posts themselves but rather it is the comment threads that those posts inspire and over the years we have had some very lively discussion threads that have given their participants lots of fun.

You see fun is what this blog is all about. Even when we have covered the most serious issues I like to think that we can do so with enough levity to keep it friendly.

So in the style of an awards night I have to offer a very sincere thank you, firstly to my fellow authors Ray Dixon (and his alter ego SockPuppet),  GD and to  Leon Bertrand, further I want to thank our readers for coming back on a regular basis to enjoy the musings on this page especially those of you who disagree with what I and the other authors write because without that disagreement we would not have the lively arguments in the comment threads. I also want to thank my wife and family for putting up with this sometimes grumpy blogger on a daily basis and last but not least I want to thank our family dog Bonnie for reminding me on a regular basis that I am only human and that nothing is more important than “walkies “

Cheers to all of our Comrades

Walkies!!!!

Walkies!!!!

Julia , its time to “toughen up princess” because no one is buying your bullshit tears

Am I the only one who thinks that Gillard’s tears  are more than a little contrived here? Heaven in a hand basket what a woeful example of an excess of emotion! I can’t help but think that her tears are not for the disabled and their carers but for herself and the rabble that she leads.

Giving a Gonski

Well we have had months of blather form both the federal Labor  party and the Education union extorting us to “give a Gonski” and now I realise that all of this so called “extra money” from Canberra for education has a very big string attached to it, nay its not a string its a bloody big mooring rope and one that makes it almost impossible for the Liberal State governments to agree. Gillard wants the state governments to chip in a dollar for every two that that she is offering under “Gonski”. Now knowing how all state governments are struggling under the burdens of debt that  previous and current Labor administrations have created how on earth does Gillard expect that any state government could agree to sign up for this scheme?

Of course its obvious to me that she never really wanted them to anyway she needs there to be a stoush over this at the next CHOGM  so that she can make a big fuss about how she cares about the future of the nation’s children whereas the evil state premiers  “don’t give a Gonski” its just more of Labor’s usual trickery  and spin doctor shuffle. The simple fact is that if Labor really  cared about the education of our children then the so called reforms would not have such a string attached to it at all.

Not that it matters because the polling is saying so very loudly that Labor is going to be defeated with such soundness that they musty be hoping that they only suffer a Queensland style thrashing rather than being blown completely off the political landscape. Even in Victoria where labor’s vote has held up the best under Gillard’s poisoned patronage their vote has collapsed and dare I suggest that the one safe seat that is likely to be retained is Gillard’s own and guess what, when Labor Looses  its newly re-elected member will be rushing to resign her seat to save herself the humiliation of sitting in the house after leading Labor to its most crushing defeat in the history of federation. Hopefully  the true believers of her electorate will do the right thing for the future of the party and either vote against Labor or if they can’t  bring themselves to do that then they will vote informally in droves to ensure that they won’t have to have the further humiliation of a by-election so soon after the September 14 thrashing.
