an elephant in the room

friday-randomness-10.jpgGD  asked me to post this new background picture here at the Sandpit that I chose to replace my sixties  flashback inducing geometric number so naturally I am obliging because I’m just that sort of guy.

Cheers Comrade GD

  1. Ray Dixon says:

So if ‘the elephant in the room’ is Islam (according to GD’s rant on the “Blood on his hands’ thread), then is GD …

…. the elephant man in the room?

  2. Iain Hall says:

Ray this thread is supposed to be light hearted so listen to this

  3. Ray Dixon says:

I’m being “lighthearted”, Iain. I realise GD doesn’t look like that … all the time.

Is that song about Kiwis and their sexual habits, Iain? I can’t play it right now because I’m supposed to be working at the desk not playing videos. Then I’ve got a few tree branches that need pruning. Love that chainsaw – just the sound of it tells everyone I’m working real hard.

  4. Iain Hall says:

Chainsaws scare me Ray and I’ve got a good one that has done less than ten hours work and has not been started for about three years. maybe you just need a sound recording of the chainsaw working for the times you want to skive off 😉
As for the vid it is a funny spoof of ACDC

  5. Ray Dixon says:

There’s a bloke just down the road from me who uses his chainsaw nearly every day. He goes out and collects fallen branches, brings them home and cuts them up for firewood. He’s had to build about 5 or 6 extra sheds to keep his world-record storage of firewood. No, he’s not selling it, he’s stock piling. The bloke is obsessed, either that or he’s preparing for aramageddon.

  6. Ray Dixon says:

You can tell there’s no news today.

  7. GD says:

AC DC sound like a chainsaw..

  8. Iain Hall says:

Yes well there is only so much Gillard bash8ing that one can do per week…

  9. Ray Dixon says:

I’ve finished with the chainsaw today. More tomorrow. And … burning off. I like a good fire.

  10. Iain Hall says:

Well Ray there may be little to write about today but I have added a few new header images to the mix for a bit of amusement…

  11. GD says:

Yesterday wasn’t a slow news day because, as usual, our muslim friends stepped up to the mark to show once again how they’re not really coming to terms with living in Western society.

    Sydney muslim Milad bin Ahmad-Shah al-Ahmadzai, 23,
was been charged with threatening serious harm to a Commonwealth official. The court heard he made threats by saying “crack your neck” and “slit your throat”.

Court documents indicated the Joint Counter Terrorism Team has been investigating Ahmadzai since December 2009 for ‘allegedly’ committing terrorism related offences

It used to be you’d say, ‘another day, another dollar’. Seems like it’s now more accurate to say, ‘another day, another islamic insult to our society’.

For two percent of the population, these guys are sure making themselves heard.

Meanwhile muslim apologists on the Sandpit have no problem with increased, unbridled immigration from Islamic countries. The more the merrier they say, all the while ignoring the ramifications of forcing together two incompatible cultures. Interestingly, all the leftards on the sandpit who champion islamic immigration live and work in areas untouched by the results of their skewed leftist ideals.

I have yet to meet an islamic apologist who lives in Dandenong, Lakemba, Blacktown or Bankstown.

  12. Iain Hall says:

Well Put GD, no doubt you will appreciate the argument being put by Pat Condell that I posted this morning.

  13. Ray Dixon says:

Meanwhile muslim apologists on the Sandpit have no problem with increased, unbridled immigration from Islamic countries

So GD, it’s okay for you to refer to me as a “muslim apologist” but not okay for me to call you a “muslim basher”, even though your bashing of ALL muslims based on the actions of a few (or in this case, just one individual) are a constant feature of this blog? I see.

I don’t “apologise” for muslims, GD, and I don’t condone the nutty activities of the likes of the big “ape” goon arrested yesterday. If anything, this arrest supports my point that we are under no realistic threat from the odd muslim extremist – to start with, they’re just too stupid to do much harm. No one who calls an official and threatens him like that is going to have the brain power to carry out a serious terrorist act. He’s all talk.

Anyway, do you still deny you want to end muslim immigration or at least reduce it substantially? Well, how do you propose that be done? Go on, give us your strategy for stopping this “unbridled immigration from muslim countries”. And please be specific. I’m all ears and I await with bated breath.

  14. Tony says:

To be fair GD, that is not a trait peculiar to radical islamists ?

Walked into Centrelink in the last ten years ?

  15. GD says:

    the odd muslim extremist

Careful Ray, you are apologising again.

  16. Ray Dixon says:

Really, GD? So what percentage of muslims living in Australia do you say are “extermists”?

You can answer that one after you’ve answered my other question re your plans to limit muslim immigration.

    Come on, man up.

(I suppose I’ll have to wait until you sneak in again when there’s no one here)

  17. Ray Dixon says:

I’ll take your failure to respond to my reasonable questions as an admission that you can’t answer them, GD. As I suspected, you’re all hot air when it comes to the so-called muslim immigration problem. You blow it out of proportion, you rant & rave and call for a halt to muslim immigration yet you have no facts and no data to support your claims and, worse still, no idea how your “no muslims for Oz” mantra could reasonably be implemented anyway. The only credible course now open to you is to back down and stop being such a muslim-bashing extremist. Issue a general apology maybe?

  18. Iain Hall says:

    Ray
its simple all we have to do is supply a buffet in the immigration department and those who refuse a ham sandwich are investigated further and if they get all hot and bothered by Danish cartoons or the star of David we say thanks but no thanks and put them on the next plane back to where they came from.

Ok I’m being factious but there is no sound reason why the government can’t be very selective about just who they allow to settle here. We would not be obliged or expected to allow someone from a culture who actively practice cannibalism or ritual killing of children, so why should we be happy toallow adherents to a faith that advocates and practices the killing of homosexuals? Or one that treats women as if they are worthless than a man? The left have this strange idea that we should not “discriminate” in the way that we chose immigrants but this is madness. Of course we should choose those who will be the best citizens into the future which means that if they are adherents to a faith that is largely antithetical to our core secular social values then we have to expect that they will go the extra yards to prove that they will be a valued part of our society rather than an enduring threat.

  19. Ray Dixon says:

Have you put that idea up to your local member, Iain? Try running it past Tony too and see how it’s received.

  20. Iain Hall says:

    Hmm
Well I know that my local member is an ex copper so he may be more than happy to entertain radical ideas like mine Ray 😉

  21. GD says:

Actually, Iain, they’re conservative ideas. And they are ideas whose time has come.

I notice that Ray is demanding a national immigration policy from me and an apology (what is it with the left and apologies?) to his fair self for expressing my opinion on the Sandpit. Given that you have similar views to me it seems odd that he doesn’t demand similar retractions and apologies from you.

Ray, I owe you no apology, and no explanation of how to limit muslim immigration/refugee intake*. When did I say that I had such a plan?

As for ‘blowing it out of proportion’, perhaps you should read more than the Border News or listen to more than the ABC, because there is a whole other world out there that doesn’t see society in the same blinkered model that you do.

Take off the rose coloured glasses, Ray, and see what is really happening in the world.

Taking it further, when did I say I hated Aborigines and Muslims? You stated that I did but couldn’t be bothered to find the appropriate links. Don’t bother looking now, they don’t exist.

As such, please don’t take to me to task for opinions that differ with yours and demand that I apologise.

btw why are you so concerned with the time of day that I comment?

instant gratification perhaps? grow up Ray 🙂

    * Stopping the boats would be a good start

  22. Ray Dixon says:

Okay, GD, here is my full reply to your latest (and pathetic) retort:

    I owe you no apology

I didn’t ask you to apologise to me. I only suggested you should perhaps issue a “general apology”, which clearly and unequivocally meant that I think you owe muslims living in Australia an apology for your muslim-bashing on this blog. At no stage did I ask you to apologise to me for your prejudices. The only time I have ever asked you for a personal apology was when you disgracefully inferred I “spat on our returning Vietnam War soldiers”. You didn’t have the grace or good manners to retract that insult or apologise then so why would I expect you to apologise to me for anything else? You have a track record of casting false accusations and insults and failing to retract when they’re pointed out – that’s not a good look, GD.

(I owe you) no explanation of how to limit muslim immigration/refugee intake*. When did I say that I had such a plan?

Of course you don’t “owe” me an explanation – I knew you didn’t have any idea how to halt muslim immigration and your response has now confirmed that. My point is made and not even your precious coalition idols have any plans to limit muslim immigration – I wonder why that is? Could it be that not even they regard it as the problem you keep claiming it to be? As I’ve said before, GD, you’re way out on the extreme right fringes with your “no muslims for Oz” mantra and have very few supporters. apart from a small bunch of extremists.

As for ‘blowing it out of proportion’, perhaps you should read more than the Border News or listen to more than the ABC, because there is a whole other world out there that doesn’t see society in the same blinkered model that you do. Take off the rose coloured glasses, Ray, and see what is really happening in the world.

That’s just a pathetic attempt at belittling the person you’re debating, GD, with no substance to it all. To start with I’m across the news and current affairs of the day as much, if not more, than you are. I just don’t interpret them the same way you do – through prejudiced eyes. Where are all these others calling for a halt to muslim immigration, GD, and what are the specific examples – in Australia – that justify your call? Can you list them, please? No, that’s not a “demand”, it’s a reasonable question and it’s about time you backed up your wild rhetoric with reasoned argument and specific examples isn’t it?

when did I say I hated Aborigines and Muslims? You stated that I did but couldn’t be bothered to find the appropriate links.

Well, let’s stick to muslims for the time being, eh? I didn’t say you “hate” them, I said you “bash” them. Constantly. On this blog. With your comments and posts. I’ll go and dig up some quotes if you insist to prove your “muslim bashing” position, GD, but you’d have to be the world’s greatest hypocrite to deny that’s what you do. I’m not sure why you “bash” muslims but most prejudices against certain races and cultures are born in fear, not hate. It seems to me you bash muslims as you do because you are scared of them. You’re scared of the way they look, the way they dress and what they eat. This doesn’t fit in with your ideals of what western Sydney should be like so it scares you shitless. You read about muslim extremists commiting atrocities elsewhere (overseas) and it scares you shitless. You’re worried that Mustafa down the road wants to cut your head off even though Mustafa has never expressed any such designs on you. In short, GD, your muslim bashing is much the same as the fear-driven rubbish that Pauline Hanson revels in. It’s the simpleton argument, GD – you let your fears override your judgement.

please don’t take to me to task for opinions that differ with yours and demand that I apologise.

I’ll take you to task every time I disagree with your extreme right-wing position, GD. More than one opinion is allowed here or hadn’t you noticed? And I repeat: I did NOT ask you to apologise to me for it – although you still owe me an apology over the “spitting on soldiers” crap.

why are you so concerned with the time of day that I comment? instant gratification perhaps? grow up Ray

Another pathetic attempt at putting down your opponent, GD? I’m not “concerned” with your MO of sneaking in overnight to respond then disappearing, I’m merely pointing out that’ it’s a pretty cowardly way of debating. It’s not mature, GD. It’s childish. Grow up, GD.

  23. Richard Ryan says:

GD? Pauline Hanson’s love child, giggle-giggle

  24. Tony says:

I think your comment re GD “Muslum Bashing” is a bit unfair Ray.
In your desperate efforts to appear non discriminatory, you forget the past few years ?
Remember all those radical isalmists, (which agreed maybe small in number, but big on rhetoric ?), have no qualms in stating that their aim is to convert the entire planet to their religion, and more worrysome, under their control, or else !

Your desperation to appear politically correct, has fogged you to the damage this religion has, and is doing, to the remainder of the population on this planet, that choose not to toe the line. Your apathy regarding this, is exactly what the radicals want to see, and furthers their cause no end.

What would be your face to face response to the anguished family of the soldier when asked the important questions Ray ?
    Oh tough luck ?
Not only them either, but the thousands of families that have suffered family loss due to this terrorism, under the guise of religious freedom ?
What a crock, your backing the wrong team.

  25. GD says:

I’m across the news and current affairs of the day as much, if not more, than you are.

Ray, in 2013, there is more to the media than the news as processed by the ABC and current affairs as massaged by the FTA networks and SKY News. Open your eyes. You clearly haven’t got a grasp of the zeitgeist.

The only time I have ever asked you for a personal apology was when you disgracefully inferred I “spat on our returning Vietnam War soldiers”.

I asked you if you spat on returning Vietnam War soldiers, I didn’t ‘infer’. It was a question. Why take umbrage?

Well, let’s stick to muslims for the time being, eh?

Well, no. You said I hated aborigines. Please provide proof or retract that slur.

As for hating muslims, well once again you are in error. I have repeatedly stated that I abhor the ideology. I have never said I hate muslims.

Once again, please provide proof or retract that slur.

As far as having no plan to curtail islamic incursion into Australia, read the last line of my previous comment.

Stopping the boats would be a good start

    And now, Ray’s thesis:

Well, (laughing), no Ray that’s not it at all, though I do appreciate you going to so much trouble to work out why I disagree with extensive Islamic immigration, especially via the now open border refugee policy that your Labor Party has implemented.

In reality, my concern is based on evidence from other western nations. Britain, France, Norway and Sweden, to mention a few, are now experiencing massive problems due to excessive islamic immigration and refugee programs.

It’s all well and fine to say that Australia won’t have those same problems because we have a different climate (as you once said). The fact is that Britain and the other European countries all have different cultures, yet are now all experiencing the same violent and anti-social repercussions from opening their borders to Islamic immigrants and refugees.

That is what I hope Australia can avoid.

  26. Ray Dixon says:

GD, would you mind not lying about what I’ve said? I did not say you “hate” muslims (or aborigines). I said you “bash” them. I said it very clearly in my last comment yet you still insist that I said you “hate” them. I don’t know if you “hate” them (although one could conclude that from all the bashing you do of them) but asking me to provide “proof” that you “hate” them is avoidance of the issue and tantamount to an acknowledgement that you do indeed constantly bash them in your comments & posts. Thanks for confirming that, although the proof of your muslim bashing is entirely self evident on these pages and I guess not even you could find a way of denying the obvious.

And I certainly have given you very strong argument as to why you cannot compare Europe to Australia – and it certainly was a lot more than the climate. To start with you’re comparing a continent of many nations and races that has thousands of years of history of war and ethnic problems to a relatively new one that was built on immigration from all parts of the world. Europe is very divided and tribal. It’s also a hell of a lot more crowded than Australia. Europe is the old world and hatred of different races and cultures is practically endemic, whereas Australia is more of a melting pot. The comparison is weak and hardly a reason to jump at shadows and place a blanket ban on muslims just because a few terrorists have gone nuts in Europe.

Anyway, good luck with finding a political party that will support your “no muslims for Oz” stance. I take it you won’t be voting for the coalition in September because they too place no restrictions on immigration based on race, culture and religion. I’m sure you can find a suitable (small) bunch of ratbags who agree with you though – someone like Pauline Hanson if she runs again perhaps?

Btw, do you still bash your ex-wife? It’s just a “question”, don’t take “umbrage”.

  27. Tony says:

That’s a fair enough point Ray, but your again forgetting a most important point.

Immigrants always bring their excess baggage (i.e. wars, hatreds, holy jihads in this instance) with them, when they emmigrate to a new country.

Surely recent history proves that important point out ?
That is why a comparison between here and Eu or the Middle East is a fair one.

  28. Ray Dixon says:

Well yes, the Italians (some of them) brought their violence & criminal activities with them and started up our own branch of the Mafia. And the Vietnamese, some of them brought their violent cultures and caused a bit of a problem too. Going back further, the Irish were pretty anti-establishment (the then British establishment regime) in Australia too and actually started riots and our only sort-of attempted revolution @ Eureka Stockade. It all worked out in the end though and so far our immigration policies could only be described as a raging success, despite the fact we imported people carrying “baggage” from violent backgrounds from various parts of the world. When you & GD can point to serious problems in Australia resulting from muslim immigrants that warrant a blanket ban I’ll pay some attention to it. So will the government, be it a Liberal or Labor one.

  29. Tony says:

A blanket ban is not what I am advocating, rather a more serious approach to background checking, and if that is not available, (which has been proven to happen when potential immigrants burn all their papers, in an attempt to destroy past family history ?), then a strong probation regime.
A more flexible approach maybe ?

You break the Australian law a certain number of times, then back on the next Qantas flight you go. It is pretty well known where the trouble makers are, and where they come from, but they are just too gutless to do anything about the problem. They just wait until something happens, as above, and wait for the inevitable knee jerk reaction to occur. The radicals, (either persuasion or side of the argument), wait until that occurs, then jump on the respective band wagons, to incite the hatreds to their advantages, to push their own causes, inevitably making the problem worse ?

Sort of like what we see in Italian houses of Parliament from time to time perhaps ?

  30. Ray Dixon says:

We have arguably the best screening processes in the world, and certainly better than in previous eras. Some will still slip through but overall we don’t have a major problem with muslim immigrants.

  31. Iain Hall says:

    Ray
It all turns on what you consider a “serious problem” to be doesn’t it?
Keep in mind that it only took 19 Jihadists to bring down the towers, only a few to commit the bombings in Madrid and London, and only two nutters to murder Lee Rigby, Heck we already have evidence that at least one convicted Egyptian Jihadist managed to slip into the country as an “asylum seeker” so who knows how big a problem that Labor have allowed to grow with their virtual open door for asylum seekers?
As Tony suggests the vetting procedure has to be very rigorous indeed and in combination with a prolonged period of “parole” is the only way to be sure that none of those who come here on boats are not going to be a threat. We just can not afford to assume that any of these people are what they claim to be if they arrive with out any sort of papers.
Finally what about the many Australians who are going to join the civil war in Syria? Many of the rebel groups are dominated by Jihadists and don’t you think that those who return from this little cavort are likely to be a continuing threat to the unbelievers here?

  32. Ray Dixon says:

Yes, Iain, but the USA, Spain and the UK have not reacted by placing a ban on all muslim immgrants because of the actions of a few, have they? If countries where the threats are more prevalent – and where they’ve actually been carried out – do not ban muslims then on what grounds do you say we should? That’s the question neiher you or GD will answer, Iain. Because you can’t cite sufficient examples and solid evidence to support your “no muslims for Oz” stance. I’m just glad that even your beloved Tony and his coalition of retrograde yesterday-people don’t even support your “stop the muslims” chant. Isn’t it about time you lot toned it down a bit and conceded that muslim immigration in Australia is not the major problem you keep claiming it is?

  33. Iain Hall says:

    Ray
Spain and the USA have far more porous borders than we do which means we have the opportunity to be far more effective than they can ever be.

  34. Ray Dixon says:

Huh? That’s not the point at all, Iain. The issue is, do we ban muslim immgration. Border control is a completely separate matter. Look, I’ve got work to do (it’s finally stopped raining) so I’ll let you have some think time on it.

  35. Iain Hall says:

    Ray
I too have been occupied which is why my last response was so brief.
Can we at least agree that some expressions of Islam are very nasty indeed? You know the sort of Muslims who take the sword, the gun and the bomb to kill in the name of their God? Surely you can’t deny that these sort of Muslims will add nothing but misery to our society?
Can you accept that as a reasonable proposition?

Now what about the Muslims who support and endorse the above mentioned subset of the Islamic faith? are they not complicit in the crimes committed in the name of the same god that they themselves worship? This group are obviously just a bit better than the first but you have to consider just how small a step it from endorsement to participation in Jihad.

So that leaves the rather smaller proportion of Muslims who are really only nominal followers of the Faith.

The question is how can we tell the difference when considering immigrants?
I want to see none in the first category very few in the the second and the majority of Muslims that we accept from those with a more secular and tolerant leaning.

    What is unreasonable with that?

  36. Tony says:

Yes, Iain, but the USA, Spain and the UK have not reacted by placing a ban on all muslim immgrants because of the actions of a few, have they?

No they haven’t, you are correct Ray, and really, look at the troubles, the radical islamic rhetoric, that all countries you have mentioned above have suffered since ?

The fine line you both seem to be missing, is that the religion per sae is not the problem.

Can we all agree at least, that the people who are manipulating that religion, and even more devastating, is the way that manipulation is pointed towards their youth ? The youth of the respective countries, probably on the lowest ten per cent of the social standings, so desperately finding a way out of abject poverty, that they are willing to listen to anyone, who promises a better life ? (or more importantly DEATH ?)

  37. Ray Dixon says:

Iain, I certainly agree that there are Islamic terrorists and that we should not admit anyone with proven participation and/or links to such actions and/or groups of extremists.

AND NOR DO WE. That is a given. That is why we screen all new arrivals.

But I don’t agree with this:

Now what about the Muslims who support and endorse the above mentioned subset of the Islamic faith? are they not complicit in the crimes committed in the name of the same god that they themselves worship? This group are obviously just a bit better than the first but you have to consider just how small a step it (is) from endorsement to participation in Jihad.

In the first place, how on earth do you determine who those people are? What do you propose as a test to weed these types out? And what evidence is there anyway of the extent of such “believers” let alone what sort of threat they represent? That’s a ridiculous argument, Iain, and is tantamount to saying that if you are “true” muslim you cannot be admitted to Australia, because (according to you) any true muslim believes in Jihad and will aid & abett terrorism … by osmosis it seems.

But “nominal muslims” are okay? That’s absurd, Iain.

  38. Iain Hall says:

    Tony
I think that you are mistaken to assume that religions are by their nature benign, frankly the evidence of history would tend to contradict such an assumption. Religion of various flavours have over the course of human history been used to justify some terrible practices from human sacrifice, the abuse of children the manipulations of people in this life with the promises of reward in the next has always struck me as being at best ambivalent but at its worst the promise inspires the killing of innocents.

  39. Iain Hall says:

    Ray

In the first place, how on earth do you determine who those people are? What do you propose as a test to weed these types out? And what evidence is there anyway of the extent of such “believers” let alone what sort of threat they represent? That’s a ridiculous argument, Iain, and is tantamount to saying that if you are “true” Muslim you cannot be admitted to Australia, because (according to you) any true Muslim believes in Jihad and will aid & abet terrorism … by osmosis it seems.

As I have pointed out to you many times the Koran commands the faithful to spread the faith by the sword, it likewise it commands death for homosexuals (yet endorses paedophilia in the example of the prophet’s marriage to Ayesha) do we really want people who are observant enough to adhere to these aspects of the faith? I think not.

  40. Tony says:

I totally agree Iain, that is what I was trying to say if not perhaps correctly. But, the religion is not the problem. For an example, look at the power and the prestige (and trappings) that the Pope has ?

The majority of those who follow religion, are in dire search mode for a crutch. A view that by somehow by following that relgion (no matter which, they are all pretty much the same), will make everything better, and that their little lot will miracuously improve ?
Its again, about manipulation and control ?

Those who run the religion, it is all about numbers, and control. The more that follow that religion, the more control is perceivable ?
Remember Richard, and the Crusades ? Not unlike politics perhaps ?

Also Iain, you forgot the one, where their women, must be covered from head to foot, lest another man may look upon her with lust ?
Sort of looks like enforced slavery to me ?

  41. Ray Dixon says:

Well Iain, how many gays have muslim immigrants killed in Australia so far? How many Aussies have been killed by muslim immigrants and how many of them have been nabbed for paedophilia? If you could get me some stats that show they’re not only adhering to their religion but carrying out the worst “commands” to the letter and commiting such atrocities in concerning numbers since being admitted then you might have a case. I’ll wait until you get the data.

  42. Tony says:

C’mon Ray, you know dammed well, that those stats would not be available to peasants eyes ?
You will have to do better than that ? 😉

You also know dammed well, that if that discertation were available, there would be a jihad on the books, and it wouldn’t be by the Muslums ?

  43. Iain Hall says:

    Ray
You realise that we live in a global world and that we can not pretend that the social issues I cite do not happen in other countries where there are significant Muslim populations. There are the “rape gangs” in the UK who particularly target vulnerable Anglo girls, we have the same attitude evident in the Scaife brothers Jailed in NSW. In Iran homosexuals are executed on a horribly regular basis and I have never seen a single Australian Muslim voice raised in objection, don’t get me started on Anti-Semitism but its rampant in the Islamic Diaspora (which is why not a week goes by with out SBS running another show about the Nazis)We just can’t pretend that Muslims living in this country won’t have the same regressive attitudes that underlay all of the vices of Muslim societies elsewhere quite simply because with modern communications they are actively connected to it on a daily basis, by phone Skype and the internet. Its not like it was when the Italians and Greeks came here in the fifties and sixties when an immigrant had to leave their past largely behind them and assimilate with the host culture.
You keep insisting that we don’t have a problem here at present as if that will always be so when the experience overseas has repeatedly been that it take time and the Muslim minority has to reach a certain concentration before problems become entirely evident. We may not be there yet but I see no reason to think that we are not on the same slippery slide as every other nation that has welcomed significant numbers of Muslim immigrants has found to its dismay.

  44. Tony says:

Your analysis is fairly balanced Iain, and I agree with it, BUT, you have to be careful when doing such an analysis, that you realise that the Muslum fundamentals, aren’t the direct cause of ALL the world’s terror problems ? I know that you do realise this, but we have to be careful not to concentrate all our emotions on these ratbags ? Really, they get enough press column space as it is, we don’t need to give their individual b/s causes any more press space than is absolutely necessary. That is exactly what they want in the long run, infiltration by any means, and really, makes us just as bad as they are.

The difference between now, and back when the Italians and Greeks emmigrated here, was that they collectively WANTED to assimilate into our culture and way of life. They did the jobs that no one else wanted to do. The difference between then and now ? The new arrivals don’t, and more importantly, won’t !

Their aim is a direct copy of the home they just left, but to add the desperate need of freedom to do what they want, when they want, and a yearning for the affluence that a western society can offer. To them, we are a society just ripe for the picking, and that is exactly what they are trying to do.

  45. Ray Dixon says:

No Iain, I can’t accept that as a valid argument for bannning or severely limiting current intakes of muslim immigrants. You point to isolated incidents overseas but fail to provide any evidence that muslim immigration either over there in Europe or here in Australia has resulted in any major social problems. And where you really come unstuck is that none of the countries you claim have major problems with muslims have gone so far as to ban them. Yet you want them kept out of Australia?! Go figure. Sorry, Iain, but you’re clearly basing your unsupported position on your inner fears & prejudices.

  46. Tony says:

Thats over 250, and only in one year.
    http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/

Sorry for using up so much space here Iain, but Rays thoughts/credibility of the problem only being “isolated incidents overseas” had to be proven to be a statement out of hopes rather than fact. I think the above list shows that rather succinclty ?
BTW, that is only one year !

Something to be considered before we start to pander to this thuggery.

  47. Ray Dixon says:

I was referring to Europe, UK, etc not to terrorist acts in muslim countries like Pakistan, Iraq & Afghanistan that make up the great bulk of the list you pointlessly supplied. The issue is about the impacts of muslim immigration into western countries and your list, if anything, proves that most of those problems have not been imported along with those who flee their homelands. I guess that’s because most muslim immigrants and asylum seekers are trying to get away from that crap, not bring it here. So far it seems they haven’t.

  48. Tony says:

Semantics Ray, but let me see.
The following is only 2010 to present, and I have deleted the Muslum countries ?

United Kingdom 22 May 2013 Two men with cleavers hack a British soldier’s head off in London.
    (source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Islamic_terrorist_attacks)

I lost count, but over 170 dead, and three times that mortally wounded ?

Still think there is no problem Ray ?

    Oh, and Australia ?
Forgotten the poor ba*tards in Bali already ? Wow, that’s a shame !

  49. Ray Dixon says:

I released your comment. It was in “spam”, not moderation. I don’t know why.

Anyway, you have still included several muslim countries on that list, or at least ones that have a large muslim base as part of their natural population, like Egypt, Morroco, Libya and perhaps Nigeria.

Also, you will note that in all cases the attacks were made by internal home-born Islamic groups, not by immigrants.

And comparing India, Thailand & China to Australia is comparing chalk & cheese. It’s ridiculous – they’re not exactly westernised democracies like Australia are they? Those counties have a history of violence as does Russia, which has its own muslim problem – a home born one like in Chechnya.

So what have we got in Europe and the UK? One incident in Germany, one in France and one in England.

Your list just further proves my point that the “problems” caused by muslim immigration in Europe and the UK – that Iain & GD point to as a reason for banning muslim immigration – are indeed isolated incidents.

As for Bali, again that was committed in Indonesia, the largest muslim country in the world. I’m not overlooking the fact that Aussie tourists were among the targets and victims but again, it was not committed by immigrants and does not justify a blanket ban on anyone who follows the Islamic faith.

Yes, I think there is no evidence that muslim immigration into a country like Australia creates any problems. I think it’s highly unlikely that it ever will. GD & Iain seem to think they’ll breed up to a certain “critical mass” and then, watch out, there’ll be suicide bombers everywhere but it ain’t going to happen. We used to be scared of commies too, going back to the 50s and early 60s.

But, if you’re so frightened and so convinced it will happen, I have 3 suggestions:

    1. Take it up with the politicians – see if you can convince any of them to agree to Australia becoming the first westernised democracy to effectively discriminate against new arrivals on the basis of their faith and beliefs.

    2. Move to New Zealand – not even the Jihadists know where that is, OR

    3. Build yourself a bunker on some remote Island in Bass Strait and fortify your position with canned food, a water supply, mortars and bombs.

That is all from me on this. You, Iain & GD have not made your case for banning/severely curtailing muslim immigration into Australia. Well, GD seems to have given up since I asked him that question about his past.

  50. Tony says:

Also, you will note that in all cases the attacks were made by internal home-born Islamic groups, not by immigrants.

You do not know that for certain. Neither do I for that matter. Again semantics Ray.

And comparing India, Thailand & China to Australia is comparing chalk & cheese. It’s ridiculous – they’re not exactly westernised democracies like Australia are they?

These countries are primarily Buhdist Ray. Again, a sign of the infiltration attempts, and overall control attempts by followers of extrmist Muslum.
Oh, and btw ? Isn’t India the largest democracy on the entire planet ? 🙄

Again your attempt to shift away from a failed argument, by belittling the opponent, rather than their argument. A sure sign that you admit defeat.
You can hide in your apathy, certainly that will work.

I am 99.9% pure wog, so all our family are imports. Not once have we advocated changing Australia’s society, as the newest arrivals have attempted to do, and ARE doing. Not by common sense arguments, but rather, by the spreading of fear and panic.

    btw ?

Aussie tourists were among the targets and victims

the poor buggers were the PRIME targets of the attack, not just minor players caught in the crossfire.

Your “fairy floss” approach to world politics is renown Ray. You continue to be told how things work on this planet, but you continue to ignore the obvious in a vain attempt to always appear to be politically correct, to hell with the consequences of your apathy ?

I hope to all hell, we as Australians, will not, at some time in the future, have to pay a heavy price for that apathy.

  51. Ray Dixon says:

I’m not apathetic nor have I attempted to belittle you. I’m just being analytical and fair-minded about it, whereas you approach the issue from an emotional fear-based position. As I said, you need to convince more people than me, because you’re in a tiny minority and not even hardline conservative coalition MPs agree with you. And, as I also said, you haven’t made a case and, therefore, I have no need to continue arguing with you … and I won’t. I simply refer you to my list of suggestions. That is all. Next subject please.

  52. GD says:

    Ray tried hard:

do you still bash your ex-wife? It’s just a “question”, don’t take “umbrage”.

The operative word in this linguistic trick is ‘still’. My question didn’t have that. See the difference?

  53. Tony says:

    Looks like I WIN !

  54. Tony says:

Or perhaps, with humility, I should say common sense wins !

  55. Tony says:

Follow the bouncing ball perhaps ?

  56. Iain Hall says:

whatever rocks your boat Tony 😉

  57. Ray Dixon says:

GD, I’m well aware of that “operative” word and its meaning but the point is made (or should I say the point is “conceded” … by you?) that asking a “question” laced with an insult/accusation is indeed a slur. As was yours. “Still”. You can split straws as much as you like but your “soldier spitting” question was crap. I’ll apologise for inferring you beat up your wife when you retract your slur on me, thank you. Until then, I advise all women to steer clear of western Sydney when GD’s on the streets. Especially muslim women.

  58. Tony says:

Was commenting on the gif on your latest ?
    🙄

  59. Iain Hall says:

Fine Tony it was as close as I could get to appropriate for the topic without crossing the line into porn 😉

  60. Tony says:

Sorry, wasn’t that interested in the ideology behind it, or commenting on that, rather just the gif ? 😉

  61. Iain Hall says:

I try to have some light heated posts here rather than just heavy politics and religion

  62. Tony says:

What a classic typo ? Certainly “heated” me up ? 😆

  63. Iain Hall says:

Spell checks never pick up that sort of typo 😦

  64. Tony says:

I would have said it was deliberate, in an attempt to lighten the mood a little ?
