Nailin’ Palin also makes the truth a casualty

Is Sarah Palin also responsible for the floods in Australia?

Chris Kenny makes a good point in The Australian about those who lay blame at Sarah Palin’s feet for the attempted assassination of Gabrielle Gifford:

Without any self-awareness or sense of irony, people at once complained about the tone of political debate, while placing blame for six senseless murders squarely at the feet of their political opponents.

Citing the dangers of an incendiary public discourse, they accused their adversaries of revelling in the murder of a nine-year-old girl.

Bertrand Russell once summarised this sort of behaviour: “We have two kinds of morality side by side; one which we preach but do not practise and another which we practise but seldom preach.”

A good read. Read the whole article.

Meanwhile, the left’s Palin-Tea Party- US right-wing explanation has collapsed before our very eyes, as it turns out that shooter Jared Loughner ”didn’t listen to political radio”, didn’t watch TV and “didn’t take sides” in the political debate. Furthermore, it seems that “He wasn’t on the left. He wasn’t on the right”, an observation entirely consistent with his odd choice of “favourite books”, previously noted on this blog.

Those recently suggesting a link between Loughner’s madness and the conservative side of US politics have been well and truly pwned.

They should have followed my advice and suspended judgment until the evidence was in.

Hopefully our friends on the left have learned a valuable lesson.

So the trial hasn’t even started, yet Judge Bertrand has already concluded ‘no plausible link’ to Palin’s rhetoric & call for arms? Well done, Leon. You’ve tried this case via the media reports that you have chosen to defer to.

and i find trying to compare the extremes of politics to declare which extreme is worse than the other rather bizarre.

But agreed Ray, Leon’s early exoneration of Palin and trying to tell ‘teh Left’ to learn a lesson equally presumptuous and inconsistent with his earlier wait and see approach…

Regardless of what this fruitcake listened to and/or read, the point is he is symptomatic of the gun culture that Palin (and others) pander to and use for political gain. She may not be directly responsible for his actions but she is clearly part of the problem over there. Mind you, who cares? America has clearly turned in on itself and is now a society and economy in decay & decline.

Ray, what part of “schizophrenic” did you fail to understand? the guy is nuts — he believes that the government put a transmitter in his head!

  6. Ray Dixon says:

I fully understand what schizophrenoic means, Tessa. Very well. We have schizophrenic people here in Australia too and, yes, they are often encouraged (by the voices) to arm themselves and/or attack people. But not with guns. And not political figures.
