Glasgow bombing

I just got a call from my brother about this latest terrorist attack in Scotland. I am thankful that there does not appear to be any loss of life. But…

Witnesses said two Asian-looking men crashed a four-wheel drive vehicle into the doors of the airport’s main terminal building. One of the men got out of the Jeep Cherokee with his clothes on fire. He was restrained by passengers while others put out the flames with a fire extinguisher. The two men were later arrested.

The Paisley hospital where the injured was being treated was evacuated after a suspect device was found, said Chief Constable Willie Rae of Strathclyde Police, who also revealed that the attack was being linked to the two car bombs discovered in London yesterday.

In a televised statement in 10 Downing Street following a meeting of the emergency contingencies committee Cobra, Prime Minister Gordon Brown urged the British people to be “vigilant” and to support the police and security services in their counter-terror measures.

One eyewitness at yesterday’s attack in Glasgow, Jackie Kennedy, 46, a beautician from the city, described how she watched one of the occupants of the car douse himself in petrol and set himself alight.(source)

Such low-tech bombs can be put together without even creating suspicion but the leftists love to say that the risk of such things is very low. However when we read accounts of how much these nutters are in love with death and killing…

“He had a big smirk on his face. He lifted up what appeared to be a five-litre drum, which I think had petrol in it, and set himself on fire,” she said. “His clothes were melting in front of my very eyes.

“The police tried to pounce on him but he fought back and was struggling with them. It was only when a member of the public punched him in the face that the police managed to restrain him. The police were trying to spray CS gas in his face but it was not working. I can’t believe what I have just seen. I have no doubt this was a terrorist attack.”

One eyewitness said : “Some holidaymaker tried to restrain him, then the police came over and wrestled him to the ground – the fire was burning through his clothes – and finally put him out with a fire extinguisher.”

Another said one of the men had tried to open the boot of the vehicle but was not successful.

“Police tried to restrain him but the guy was quite strong and he started fighting off the police,” he said(source)

Is it any wonder that the claims that Islam is a “Religion of Peace” ring ever so hollow?
May I suggest that the medical treatment of the burnt terrorist not include ANY pain relief?

Update

I’m trying to work out why they bothered with the fire extinguisher.

I can appreciate where you are coming from Keith but there is a part of me that wants the scumbag to suffer and as we both know there is no injury to a human body that causes as much pain and suffering like extensive burns, so I do want him to die alright, but not at all quickly.

  3. kg says:

🙂 good point. But he’ll be treated with everything at their disposal, costing the taxpayer a fortune.

  4. Iain says:

Take heart that even with such extensisve treatment he will suffer greatly and probably die anyway. The cost will still be less than the other one will incurr via his trial and subsequent imprisonment at her majesty’s pleasure..

That fire extinguisher contained WP, so it’s all good.

This coming from a man who once supported the death peanlty in that it was ‘more humane’ than life imprisonment. How sad to see you slavering at the prospect of a slow painful death.

I for one advocate getting him treated so we can find out any useful information about his colleagues, and then sentencing him to life in jail, but then I guess that just wouldn’t be humane….would it?

I am not a Christian who thinks that any sin or depravity can be forgiven. And You ignore how I qualify what I say here; “a part of me” ideates that some one has mixed feelings on the issue.
In any case You forget that one aspect of justice is punishment and frankly I don’t think that the terms of imprisonment nor the conditions that these scumbags receive from the courts are in any sense commensurate with the death and suffering that these scrotes intended to cause so I see nothing wrong in celebrating the fact that this man who sought to kill or maim so many should himself be in a burns unit reaping what he sought to sow. As for information there have already been arrests of others in his terror cell so may be that is less of an issue any way.

He doesn’t have “colleagues”–they co-conspirators and murdering scum.
You lot just don’t bloody get it, do you? An ideology is at war with us and you persist in thinking that it can be treated the same way as ordinary criminality.
I guess you think we should have arrested a few Japanese and German soldiers and hauled them up before the courts instead of going to war sixty years ago too. Yup, that would have really shown ’em, eh?
And no doubt the Beslan thugs could have been dealt with by a few years in jail, counselling and rehabilitation programs.
Get real. You’ve never seen the results of what these bastards do up close and personal and you have no idea of what that kind of suffering looks and sounds and smells like.
Very easy to make mealy-mouthed pronouncements about what is and is not “humane” when you’ve led a pleasantly safe and sheltered life and never had to pick thought still-warm body parts searching for evidence.
God, lefties make me throw up.

And ‘Minless rant of the Year’ goes to…drum roll…Keith.

Ah, that was priceless my far right friend!

At least Iain put a decent word in….

  10. PKD says:

Course while Keith picks up his Mindless Rant gong I will be in the running for worst use of a spellchecker award! lol!

Anyway Iain, interesting to see you showing your true colours on this…

I don’t think that the terms of imprisonment nor the conditions that these scumbags receive from the courts are in any sense commensurate with the death and suffering that these scrotes intended to cause

And yet Iain argued recently with me against for the death penalty instead of life imprisonment as life in jail was ‘too inhumane’. Now the truth comes out – Iain really wants the terrorists to suffer as much as the suffering they cause – real ‘eye for an eye’ stuff. This thing about the death penalty being more ‘humane’ was just a smokescreen…not that you had anyone fooled Iain…

    Ian.

Any sin can be forgiven. That doesn’t mean you don’t punish sin. Part of being repentant is being prepared to take your licks.

  12. kg says:

    A “minless rant” eh…
I may be totally without “min” (whatever that is) but I notice you don’t answer the question.
You are nothing but a clueless wee troll pkd and perhaps one day when you’ve picked up some experience from the world of grown-ups you’ll be worth debating.
Nobody here is holding his breath though.
The more I see of your idiot jabbering here the more I’m pleased to see your IP banned in CR and A Western Heart–it was a good sanitary measure.

  13. PKD says:

    Keith,
What question? All I saw was a bitter rant!

Yeh, yeh I’m a troll yadda yadda yadda… whatever Keith!

BTW, I take no pleasure in trawling through the cesspit of your far-right blogs, so banning me was really a back-handed compliment…and proof that you were too scared to debate open or fairly!

    lol! 🙂
