Why are some people Gay?

But it’s not unimaginable to see scientific insight into the origins of animal homosexuality being abused if directed towards human beings in their first months and years. Maybe hormonal manipulation in utero could make homosexuality less likely in a sheep — or a child. Or maybe in the future, research like that being done now on sheep could be used to detect homosexual orientation in foetuses or babies — and prevent it. Why not, if that’s what parents wish?

Andrew Sullivan considers the questions raised by research into homosexuality in sheep and how such research may be applied to he human species. As a gay man he is conflicted by a wish to know why he is gay and the implications that by knowing why it may be possible to “turn of “ the tendency to be attracted to the sane sex and potentially eliminate homosexuality.
Personally I have a live and let live attitude to anyone who bats for the other team .Not my cup of tea but in a diverse world ect … but knowing that for many gay women and men a life of distrust and exclusion will be their lot.. Makes me wonder if one of my children were to be gay and it were possible to would I make that change for them ?
