2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

About 55,000 tourists visit Liechtenstein every year. This blog was viewed about 170,000 times in 2012. If it were Liechtenstein, it would take about 3 years for that many people to see it. Your blog had more visits than a small country in Europe!

Good stats, Iain – I must look at mine – I particularly like this bit:

Some visitors came searching, mostly for: lara bingle, wtf animated emoticons, gaia, iain hall, and richard ryan comments to iain hall.

Lara & Richard are keeping you going.

    And this:

These were your 5 most active commenters:

    1 JM 275 comments
    2 Richard Ryan 259 comments
    3 Brian 210 comments
    4 alan 180 comments
    5 deknarf 173 comments

    I didn’t rate a mention!

    Happy New year.

Yes Ray you do deserve a commenting gong IMHO :)
Interesting that of that list of top commentators two have been banned!
Ah well it just goes to prove that those who get too excited about stats are often quite mistaken.

  3. Ray Dixon says:

Maybe WordPress doesn’t include authors in those stats, Iain. That’d be why you, GD & I aren’t on that list.

  4. Ray Dixon says:

According to your stats page, Iain, these are your ‘most recent’ top commenters:

    Commenter Comments
    Iain Hall 310
    Ray Dixon 113
    deknarf 89
    Brian 89
    paulwello 78
    Richard Ryan 70
    GD 57

That’s based on the last 1,000 comments – which sort of proves that the year’s results advised by WP don’t include authors.

  5. Iain Hall says:

Yes Ray I think that you are right about the way that they treat authors in those stats, essentially You and I have easily made as many comments as those cited by WP
