The idea that Kevin Rudd can save the Labor from the upcoming slaughter is getting a bit space in the papers with the Age declaring this

Talk about trying to “fake it till yer make it”!!!!
Given the depths of Labor’s despair and disapproval you would have to have thought that a realistic headline writer would have used the less definitive “could” to describe Labor’s prospects under a resurgent Rudd. However we are talking about the Age here and they must be getting pretty desperate in that leftist bunker as every other Poll points to scorched earth for the ALP at the next election.
Personally I think that the best that Labor under a resurrected Rudd could expect is a slightly less than theĀ total devastation that Gillard is heading for, but more than that is unrealistic.
Anyway I curious to see if any of our readers think that the Age wishful thinking here has any substance …
Cheers Comrades

Interestingly, the polls show that Labor could even win under Rudd, which is extraordinary.
I think there’s a bit of amnesia in the electorate with respect to Rudd’s failings as PM. His continual broken promises and emphasis with spin over substance made him a superficial PM who people eventually saw through.
I suspect that Rudd being returned would give Labor a temporary bounce, but that Rudd would inevitably make everyone remember why he was dumped and why he was so unpopular at the time.
BUT Leon Ruddy was/is a great diplomat. His very outward presence instills personal qualities, that Dullard can only dream of. Those ? Intelligence, and sympathy, without too much arrogance. Definitely required prerequisities as an accomplished diplomat ?
I think if Ruddy were returned, he could turn it around. He will take the heat off the labor leadership, and turn it back onto Abbott’s many career failures, which is exactly what should happen. A real debate ? If that were to happen, the libs numbers would crash extremely quickly. If Gillard sticks around, there is no new clean slate, and labor’s woes and numbers would continue to crash. Her tenure has been a total failure, and as such, rather than take the entire party with her into oblivion, she has to get out and take the fall.
Whether or not she does that, is a matter for her ego, her arrogant supporters, as well as ultimately the party ?
