Can there really be anything less necessary or efficacious than a campaign by this bad government to sell their pernicious “Carbon (dioxide) Tax”?
You would have to have been hiding under a rock for the last five years to be unaware of the debate about climate change and equally unaware of the arguments put by both sides. As Juliar’s “charm offensive” is proving to be just plain offensive to good sense we are to be patronised further by an offensive on the public purse to attempt the impossible and to convince the Australian public that the “Carbon (dioxide) Tax” is a good idea.
The aphorism that comes to my mind is the very old one to express a futile cause; Juliar Gillard and her tax are about as popular as a pork chop in a Synagogue, she has a better chance of selling bacon sarnies at the Lakemaba mosque than she has of convincing the public that this huge money churn will be of any benefit to our country at all. Not now and definitely not for the future of our children. Andrew Bolt reckons that Gillard will be removed by a panic stricken back bench by September. *The desperates Pure Poison are getting hot and bothered about a comment allegedly posted at the Herald Sun that call for the “assassination” of Gillard which they want to suggest is serious and or an incitement to do just that even though every man and his dog characterised the Gillard coup to oust Rudd as a “political” assassination.
Each new day brings forth a new idiocy from this very bad government and just think of their utter incompetence with every hare brained scheme that Labor have given us since that November day in 2007, think about each new disaster and policy failure then consider how insulting it is to have this bad government try to convince us that they are in fact good and good for the future of our children. When you have finished either fuming with righteous anger, or laughing uncontrollably at the sheer hubris and stupidity of the Gillard crew you can let every glimpse of a “Carbon Tax” pitch that you see in the media strengthen your resolve to remove Labor from office, not with the assassin’s bullet but with the ballot box.
Cheers Comrades.

YES imagine if the shoe was on the other foot—–the right foot, and the threat of assassination was against the mad monk Abbott, the rightard’s blog sites would be on melt-down. Shalom Richard Ryan.
ON the subject of Andrew Bolt—-Iain’s idol. How did Bolt get hold of that intelligence dossier 2003 helping him to do a “character assassination” on Andrew Wilkie.
Richard
I do like Andrew Bolt but not as much as I LOVE the angst that he engenders in lefties Like you !
As I happens I know for certain that an Aussie journalist who does not work for News LTD was complicit in hacking a humble blogger…
And I also know for certain who was complicit in passing on classified information to Andrew Bolt, pertaining to Andrew Wilkie, and he is not a ALP politician. So top that Iain.
This is not a pissing contest Richard
Juliar is trying everything because she is desperate, but none of it is working.
Sadly that is absolutely correct
Just have to tell you LOVE your header photograph!
This is the Day that the Brown Gillard Government gets to spend your money. Even though a high percentage of voters have expressed their anger at this forced introduction of a Carbon Dioxide tax, they have decided to go ahead and bombard media with an advertising campaign, designed to change people’s minds. I would call this political advertising – being done to induce a favourable outcome!

Welcome to my blog
The header picture and my background are a sunrise from my front window which sort of goes with my blog’s subtitle “Bringing light into the darkness”
Oh I agree with you about the advertising campaign but I think that it will be entirely futile if not very counter-productive
Iain, every government has the right to tell people whatever political message they want to. It has been thus since Charles I was executed and Parliament told the people why that had to be done.
Maybe, instead of bleating you could listen?
That is just it – one could hope listening happened like a 2 way street…. instead of which, if we disagree with Gillard and Brown we are tainted with the nasty tag ‘deniers’…. The Gillard Government wants this tax reform and that is all there is to it! The fact that it has been shown that this reform will do nothing for the climate has nothing to do with anything! according to Julia & Bob et al!
I don’t see this as ‘bleating’, merely finding an avenue where one can express oneself without being painted as a ‘denier’. I thought opinions were welcome here?
JustMEinT,
Unlike lunch room experts like Iain and “Sax”, I leave the science to the scientists. And when there’s a clear consensus among 90%+ of scientists that the earth is warming due to man-made activity, I have no problem with governments taking action to address this. Moreover there might be some long term benefit if industries reconfigure to make more use of renewable energy sources like solar, wind, tidal and geothermal power.
I looked at your blog to see if you had some scientific insight into the issue. You don’t. It’s all a rehash of Liberal Party press releases and Andrew Bolt columns. Sure you are entitled to these views. But please don’t tell us your views are not being heard.
Cheers.
I read the post from JustMEinT. Concerning is the ACCC involvement. How, with a retail staff of approx 30, do I silence them and not speak of price rises due to the Carbon Tax. This is Australia, where is the free speech?

I have listened and I have watched and frankly what they are giving us all is spin and propaganda in the form of empty platitudes about a bright hi tech future. Well I am not impressed by such empty rhetoric. If thsi was really about reducing emissions as they claim rather than an attempt to do some tax gouging and socialist wealth redistribution, the government could simply mandate that business and industry had to meed certain energy efficiency targets. But just on the science this scheme is utterly bonkers and as a Labor man yourself you must be anguished at the way that Gillard is trashing the party for the sake of a rather fleeting residency in the lodge.

Yes it is the futility of this policy in doing anything substantive for the climate that is the real killer isn’t it?

The science can be debated till the cows come home Iain and there will never be any resolution on their veracity. The politics of the issue are however far more amenable to reasoned thought and realistic action that gives this nation the best result for our future. Creating a huge money go round is going to do what for the environment precisely?
as a NON scientist I pose a thought – on “Creating a huge money go round is going to do what for the environment precisely?”
Who will make the money out of this new venture? We saw what happened with the insulation scheme, we think we know what may happen with the set top box scheme, the money for school buildings scheme went well over budget (amongst other things) and now they want to invest in ‘renewables’ which will bankrupt the country! Grannies, the disabled, families and the middle classes will not be able to afford to heat or cool their homes – with an infered/expected 25% RISE IN THE COST OF ELECTRICITY – (let alone be able to afford the basic nutritional food items required for good health) THEN THERE IS THE CARBON OFFSETS SCHEME. One does ponder who might be involved behind the scenes in the setting up here, and may well have already invested large sums of money looking forward to a windfall $$$$$
Yes JustMEinT Musings the experience in Europe has certainly been that these schemes are really prone to being rorted by spivs and conmen and no one believes that the compensation will keep pace with the ever increasing tax
here is some stupidity to brighten your day:
This is a hoot – tiz ridiculous and about as stupid as the soon to be enforced Carbon Dioxide Tax we are all going to suffer under.

Julia has been giving out money again to her Tame Scientists, to prove her agenda…… it kind of made me go all goosebump-ish…..
Please do not be put off by so-called ‘experts’ who tell us that beautiful poetry such as this, has no basis – no provable fact – in science.
Long before the CSIRO scientists (I name them because they are Julia’s favourite lackeys) had weather balloons, modern microscopes or computers on which to play with modelling programs, farmers, graziers, weather watchers, astronomers, sailors and adventurers, all used what we today would call observations to record weather patterns and changes.

Senator BOB BROWN (Tasmania) (Leader of the Australian Greens)
This afternoon I will be moving a motion that asks the Senate to call on the government to amend the Commonwealth Electoral Act before the next federal election to incorporate a truth in political advertising unit to monitor and regulate political advertising to ensure it is true and accurate.
My goodness that sounds right up our alley – it is something we have all be howling for – for eons now it seems – truthful politicians are just what the doctor ordered me thinks! Truthful politicians – an oxymoron, and watching Mr. Brown in action right now, just goes to show that he lies, even when pretending to want the truth.

Iain, can’t you do something about these spammers?
