I am interested to find out where my readers stand in the political spectrum so I have created a poll to find out.
While we are at it there is the question of religion

Red, without any yellow

The 6C 3000 CM driven by Juan Manuel Fangio in the 1953 Mille Miglia

The 6C 3000 CM driven by Juan Manuel Fangio in the 1953 Mille Miglia

I love the flair of Italian design and the passion of its execution, the trouble is that they often stuff up on the details. My Ducati, that I loved with a passion, was utterly pathetic in its ability to light the road or keep its battery charged, but when it was working well made the most glorious sound as it was revved to the redline through the gears.  and in this  current age when we are told that an passion for fast machines is at best a guilty pleasure, it is worth remembering that the passion is important because without it we would all be the poorer.

We all benefit from doing the things we love rather than doing what the sanctimonious  doom sayers  insist is necessary and hating it. So if you are considering getting yourself a terribly sensible mode of transport or some conveyance that you think is Uber-Eco-friendly, think again and get something that will give you pleasure, even if it is the pleasure of tinkering with it from time to time.

  1. I am not a petrol head Iain, far from it, so a please explain is coming.

A ferrari ? With a name like Fangio, would think that it would have to be.

I went through my midlife crisis whilst in, and just out of the RAAF. I had a black Mustang convertible, and a Honda Dominator. Nice bike. 600cc road trail, brand new, that used to go like the powers. Used to ride it into uni and loved it. The mustang, a bit slow, due to it’s weight, but if you floored it…..
I think I told you the story about the speeding ticket I got up your way.

Whatever sex we may be, whatever religion, colour, whatever, we all have our passions. As you say, the things we love to do.

    The secret ?

What the hell, we are only here once (as far as we know),

    indulge them !

  2. No David it is an Alfa Romero But I agree with your sentiment that life is for living so enjoy it , no hair shirts allowed!
    :)

  3. I have never heard that expression.
What the hell is a “hair shirt” (yep, it’s coming folks) ?

    Is it :

hair shirt – an uncomfortable shirt made of coarse animal hair; worn next to the skin as a penance

So, if above, sorry, maybe not enough caffeine yet, don’t get it.

  4. Your definition is correct David, and I cite it because the Greenies seem awfully similar to the medieval penitents to me mate ;)
