I am interested to find out where my readers stand in the political spectrum so I have created a poll to find out.
While we are at it there is the question of religion

A call to AGW sceptics in Melbourne

If you believe that Al Gore is a self serving lying hypocrite who is only preaching the green mantra to line his own pockets, you should be there to spread the word:

STREET theatre and placard-waving protest are not generally the province of Australia’s climate sceptics, but they are making an exception for a visit by the former US vice-president Al Gore.

The Climate Sceptics Party, a newly formed group seeking enough members to be a registered political entity, will picket Mr Gore when he addresses a business breakfast in Melbourne on Monday.

“As far as we know, this is the first street protest in the world by climate sceptics who are not selling books or having a convention,” said the party’s founder, Leon Ashby.

Mr Ashby, a former dairy farmer, said between 50 and 100 protesters were expected to carry placards with graphs showing the world is getting colder. Mr Ashby is a former board member of the Australian Environment Foundation, a conservation group affiliated with the right-wing think tank, the Institute of Public Affairs.

Even if you do believe in AGW you should be there to protest this chap gallivanting around the world in private jets to sell the AGW message… because Al Gore is a self-serving hypocrite…

And that just about says it all really Iain…who’d of thought it – ’sceptics’ are out there to make money too!!!

  2. Compared to Profits like Al Gore I suppose

  3. Or Ian Wishart et al…

  4. Well Iain – guess your plea fell on deaf ears – only a paltry 30 people of the Climate ‘Sceptics’ Party turned up.

Guess all those other scpetics were too busy denying the conference was on!

Thirty? Hmm that sounds pretty good for a weekday and answering the call from an entirely new organisation to stand around outside on a winter morning in Melbourne but I’ll leave the protesters to say what they thought of the event (from their mail out )

    Hi Everyone,
This is a quick note to say we went quite well at the protest this morning in Melbourne

Arriving at 6am, we had thirty people in our group at Southern cross station and we met another small bunch of Climate sceptics at Docklands Peninsular as well. In all maybe 40 of us were protesting against Al Gore.

Steve Murphy , Anthony Cox & myself were very pleased we had the crowd of 1,000 people hearing us for 10 – 15 minutes explain the graphs and evidence CO2 is not causing climate change several times.

They were in line waiting to get their names crossed off as they shuffled into the breakfast area.

After our speeches poems, limericks and a song from Les Gallagher, we had several TV and a radio interviews.

Anthony Cox said we had coverage on the ABC and channel 10
Everyone in our group thought it went very well.
We also explained what we were doing to the people we passed by as we walked to and from the docklands peninsular to Southern cross station.
we got a variety of reactions.

Some of our group had interesting chats with a few of the public about the AGW issue at the event.

15 of us stayed around over a coffee afterwards and chatted about future strategies as well.

I think there will be a surge in momentum within our group spring from this event.

This is an issue for reason and rationality PKD not sheer numbers doing the mindless chant thing….

  7. Well, I admire your optimism Iain!
