To my mind the fundamental prerequisite for any relationship has to be honesty between the partners and this very sad story shows what can happen when a relationship is based upon a lie.

A Russian man murdered his girlfriend after discovering she had once been a man.
The killer, identified as Vladimir F by police, shot Camila several times, deliberately targeting the parts of her body altered during a sex change operation.
He had only found out about her previous identity after she turned down his offer of marriage.
The 33-year-old believed she had a secret lover and, in a jealous rage, checked her post.
It was at this point he discovered letters from old friends addressing his girlfriend of two years, who he had met in St Petersburg, as ‘Dear Cyril.’
He confronted her and she confessed she had undergone a sex change operation in Australia, but had not told him.
‘Vladimir grabbed a gun and shot Camilla, targeting the parts of her body that had been altered by the Australian doctors, a police report said.
He then dumped her body in a railway station close to Volgograd in southern Russia he attempted suicide by slitting his wrists.
I in no way condone what “Vladimir F” is alleged to have has done , no one deserves to die for being a teller of lies* but when the lie pertains to something as important as one’s gender it is understandable that the deceived may get very angry and possibly vengeful. This lie has has sadly had fatal consequences.
As I have said before I support the right of any individual to do whatever they please with their bodies even though I thing that “gender reassignment surgery” is something of a fraud in general and a wrong headed approach to gender dysphoria.
It will be interesting to see what the legal outcome is in this case and if Vladimir F is charged or convicted of this killing. Would a jury convict him on a murder charge?

I also don’t condone what he did, BUT, honesty in a relationship, is one of the major corner stones as to whether it survives or not.
My ex always wanted to know what I did in the RAAF. I couldn’t tell her, and still can’t. It killed any future we had, as it often does ? The old proverb of building on shifting sands comes to mind ?
