I am interested to find out where my readers stand in the political spectrum so I have created a poll to find out. While we are at it there is the question of religion Cheers Comrades

Lost and found

In our lives there are a few possessions that are vital to most of the things that we do. Many of them are contained in our wallets and when our wallet goes MIA. we are, as they say in the movies, in deep do dos.

Lost and found
Lost and found

The last time that I was sure of the location of my wallet was last Tuesday afternoon when I paid our electricity bill with my credit card over the phone, Because I don’t leave the property everyday I don’t keep it on my person all of the time, and the next time I needed  it was on Friday morning and i could not find it anywhere. I searched the family car, my sports car, all of the usual places and even unusual ones like the sheep pen. Nothing! no sign of it.

On Saturday I took my daughter to her Gym class and i felt rather vulnerable with only cash in my pocket. It is amazing just how having those little tokens like a credit card , driving licence and even your library card give  you a feeling of rightness about your place in the world. Saturday afternoon I went around to finish a tiling job that I have been doing and searched the work site but still no sign of my wallet.

I groaned inwardly about the inconvenience of having to get replacement cards, a new licence , heck even the  wallet would be a pain to replace. Come Sunday morning I was resigned to the necessity of beginning the process so I rang up the bank and reported my Credit card Missing. the young chap from the bank was most efficient and his checks revealed that the last transaction on the card had been my own bill paying the previous Tuesday I felt relieved even though I had been confident that I had lost the wallet some where around the home. At the same time I felt that as soon as I reported my card missing that it would miraculously materialise…

Sunday afternoon found me feeling rather down about the whole thing. Then my beautiful wife went into our daughters room and there it was, bold as brass, sitting on her desk! I must have put it down there when I was rousing her for school on the Wednesday morning and  promptly forgot about it.

My irony detector was of course fully correct  and now I  have to just wait a week for a new card…

At least I don’t have to sit for another licence photo …

  1. Great post, Iain. Don’t forget to call the bank back about the cancelled credit card!

  2. It’s always in the last place you look, Iain :D

  3. Nice one. But just one question… if it was sitting on your daughter’s desk for four or five days, why didn’t she find it?

thanks for the kind words and it is kinda pointless to contact the bank because they don’t “un-cancel” credit cards.and I have to wait for a replacement anyway.

Of course because we don’t keep looking once we find it now do we?

That is a mystery to me too mate

  5. Maybe she’s got a desk/room like all those other young daughters out there, i.e. a bloody mess!
