I am interested to find out where my readers stand in the political spectrum so I have created a poll to find out. While we are at it there is the question of religion Cheers Comrades

All animals are equal…

Don’t you just love it when our illustrious leader Brother Number One provides such an example to the nation when it comes to his much vaunted Emissions trading scheme?

KEVIN Rudd wants all Australians to pay more for power and petrol to help save the planet – except himself.

The Prime Minister has revealed he will continue to allow taxpayers to pick up his power and petrol bills, despite saying everyone must share the pain of increased costs to help stop climate change.

The Government is set to introduce a national Emissions Trading System by 2010 in the wake of the Garnaut Report released on Friday.

Energy bills and the cost of fuel will sharply increase under the system.

Glen Milne

Of course on his salary ($370,000 a year, including allowances.)  there is no doubt he will appreciate  the pain that the extra energy  costs will mean to  ordinary Australians , he will immediately appreciate  how the cost of groceries for our families  and more to the point he will get a warm inner glow from knowing that having implemented the Guano Garnaut report that we will have actually saved the planet from the scourge of global warming.

As we lesser mortals  go home to our holes in the ground and look forward to our handful of cold gravel for tea, (  that we dream of) Brother Number One will undoubtedly remind us that all animals are equal…

And we will love him for it…

  1. $370k for the PM’s job is not enough when compared to some bankers and other high powered positions.
    Not even close to enough.
Why does the Macquarie Bank have some blokes on 10- 20 mill PA ?
I dont know what your really on about?

  2. Iain’s just demostrating his true socialism beliefs again. Just like he wants “silvertail Mercedes drivers” to be fined more for traffic offences than those on lower incomes, he now wants the leaders of our nation to receive the same income as the rest of us.

  3. No Ray that is not my point or intention here at all, I want to make the point that he has no idea about the impact of the policies his government advocates.
Ignoring who the present incumbent is I don’t begrudge the money paid to the PM at all.

  4. OH Iain – I thought this was a sarcasm piece with no serious point at all – not that I’d limit that comment to the pieces you label with a ’sarcasm’ tag…

  5. I want to make the point that he has no idea about the impact of the policies his government advocates.

You are just too funny, Iain, this how-can-they-understand-this-suffering stuff is the last resort of a desperate man. There hasn’t been an Australian PM since Curtin who has been from or of the working class. And I can’t remember you ever making this statement about Howard, even though you said often that you didn’t agree with Workchoices. You’ll be singing Randy Newman’s ‘Mr President, Have Pity on the Working Man’ next.

  6. Very very funny Iain, you sure are sounding like your old lefty self these days!

  7. Don’t forget the rest of his gaggle of weasels too Iain, his ministers who we are paying, i don’t hear of any of them saying they want to share the pain as well. Typical leftist filth, expect everyone else to pay for their crap.

  8. Such a reasoned argument, MK!

Well, I’m convinced. Someone calls me filth always changes my mind.

  9. Actually I think Iain’s got a point. If the rank n’ file have to tighten their belts its good leadership to do so oneself. Nothing ’socialist’ about it.

  10. Guano Report – That’s good. Haven’t read it so I don’t know if it is Guano (Kevvie’s ‘deadines are guano) but credit where it’s due.

  11. Such a reasoned argument, MK!

    Keri,
I’ll say one thing for MK, whenever he comes on he manages to make Iain look like a leftie in comparison!!!

  12. Iain is a genius compared to MK.

  13. Forrest Gump is a genius compared to MK.

  14. Forrest Gump is a genius!
