I am interested to find out where my readers stand in the political spectrum so I have created a poll to find out. While we are at it there is the question of religion Cheers Comrades

Al Gore blows the energy budget… again

Photobucket

Mr Gore’s environmental activism inspired the Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth. But the TCPR branded him a “hypocrite” in February last year after discovering that his eight-bathroom house had consumed nearly 221,000 kilowatt hours of electricity in the previous year – more than 20 times the national average.

Mr Gore responded by saying he was giving the house an energy-efficient makeover, fitting solar panels, low-energy lightbulbs and a geothermal heating and cooling system. However, the TCPR has got hold of his bill again, this time comparing consumption between the 12 months before June last year, when it says he installed his new technology, and the year since then.

It says the figures show the Gore residence uses an average of 17,768kWh per month – 1638kWh more energy per month than before the renovations. By comparison, the average American household consumes 11,040kWh in an entire year, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Apart from the significant “bullshit” factor in Al Gore’s film I find it endlessly amusing that the man himself is such an energy hog. This of course makes him fair game for accusations of hypocrisy. Now when you consider that he has had a year, we should have been seeing a decline in his personal electricity consumption but instead he has been even more wasteful than ever  before ( see my bold above) despite the installation of the energy saving technology.

This man is nothing more than a money grubbing hypocrite the sad thing is that so many minions of the green religion look up to him as an inspiration. Now (speaking hypothetically) if they are right in their claim that our emissions are causing the end of the world and they follow Al Gore’s example rather than his rhetoric , then we are surely doomed….

  1. “This man is nothing more than a money grubbing hypocrite”

Good point Iain, people of the left like you and I have long been saying that making a huge profit simply by being a leader and inspiring others to do better is just capitalistic greed.

It seems we agree that we should take Al’s massive income off him and make him live on an amount that regular families have to survive off.

Then we could give his hypocritical dollars to those who are losing their jobs and properties at the bottom of the Murray River, due to the greed of the farmers up stream taking all the environmental flows for their inefficient farms.

Or we could use the money to set up a web site critical of idiots like Andrew Bolt who still insists that the river system is healthy and doesn’t need ’saving’. Now there is another real hypocrite who should be taxed to help those in need.

Good on you Iain, I new you weren’t the rightist you pretended to be in your earlier blogging life.

  2. I have to agree with you and your fellow leftie Iain, Gore is a side show and distracts from tackling the real science issues.

I think you should focus on some of the real AGW science rather than the buffon Gore. If you havent seen it You should do a post on the Arctic ice melt rate, which has shown the melt to be 50% faster than previous estaimte. See…

Kind of disturbing to hear the ice cap is now only 4.2m sq km from 1980’s 7.8m hey? Looks like the ice cap is going the way of the Murray.

I know how conerned you’ll be, lefty AGW supporter that you must be!
