I am interested to find out where my readers stand in the political spectrum so I have created a poll to find out. While we are at it there is the question of religion Cheers Comrades

Taking responsibility

The frisson that surrounds Gordon Ramsay is rather strange in my book, he does seem rather too keen to use “fuck” or “fucking” as a universal conjunctive for my tastes, but he does have the right sort of ideas when it comes to running a business. You know the basics like good service and a good product result in a good profit. I have watched a few of the programs that he features in and frankly they get just a little repetitious but I must say I think that this example has some very worthwhile lessons for all of us.

I have no qualms at all about eating meat, poultry or fish because that is part of the natural menu for a omnivores like we humans, but as I told a commenter here the other day I do think that if you are going to eat meat then you should be prepared to take responsibility for killing the creature whose flesh you want to consume.

Gordon Ramsay

The rabbit that was shown being killed on screen was put to death by one of the men who owned the ferrets. RSPCA officers have received calls from viewers expressing their concern about the episode. But the organisation said no laws had been broken.

A spokesman said: “We encourage people to let us know if they think an animal has been killed in an inhumane way. We will always investigate.

“If anyone is still upset by the programme’s content we recommend they contact the programme makers and Ofcom.”

Daily Mail

Ramsay is doing the right thing here, teaching his son about life, death and the realities of the food chain. I have taken my daughter fishing and she does appreciate that when you have fish and chips that you are eating something that was alive. We , as a culture do our children a grave disservice when we hide these truths from them. Far from making our children more callous I think that showing our offspring the realities of where the food we eat comes from teaches them respect for life.
