I am interested to find out where my readers stand in the political spectrum so I have created a poll to find out. While we are at it there is the question of religion Cheers Comrades

Damned by their own martyrdom videos

It looks like the UK police have gathered some very damning evidence against the cadre of would be bombers and I find it hard to believe that they can produce a benign explanation for the martyrdom videos that six of their number have made. I quote from the transcripts as reported in the Times

Each of the videos featured a suspect sitting in front of black flags with Arabic writing. The first shown to the jury was made by Umar Islam, who said that he intended to carry out mass-murder to take

“revenge for the acts of the USA in the Muslim lands and their accomplices, such as the British and the Jews”. “You are just sitting there, you are still funding the Army, you have not put down your leaders, you have not pressured them enough,” he said. “Most of them are too busy watching Home And Away and EastEnders, complaining about the World Cup, drinking your alcohol, to care about anything. That is all you seem to care about and I know because I have come from that.”“This is from Umar Islam, the son of Islam, to the people of the world, to let you know the reasons for this action which, Inshallah [God willing], I am going to undertake. This is an obligation on me as a Muslim to wage jihad against the kuffar [non believers].”“We will not leave this path until you leave our lands until you feel what we are feeling. This is revenge for the acts of the USA in the Muslim lands and their accomplices, such as the British and the Jews.” “If you want to kill our women and children then the same thing will happen to you. This is not a joke. If you think you can go into our land and do what you are doing in Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine and keep on supporting those that are fighting against the Muslims and think it will not come back on to your doorstep then you have another thing coming.”
Umar Islam,

The leader of this band of Zealots Abdulla Ali, 27 gives us a similar rant.

Sitting in front of a similar black flag, Mr Ali described himself as the leader of the group and said that he had aspired to martyrdom since the age of 15 or 16.

“You show more care and concern for animals than you do for the Muslim Umah (Islamic nation),” he said.

If foreign policy did not change, he added, “expect floods of martyr operations against you and we will take our revenge and anger, ripping amongst your people and scattering the people and your body parts and your people’s body parts responsible for these wars and oppression decorating the streets.”
Abdulla Ali,

While my good friends from the far left will whine and moan that we in the west must address the long list of Muslim grievances if we are to see an end to plots like this one. I don’t think that doing so will stop one plot or save one life. The core problem seems to me to be Islamic anti-Semitism which is the foundation of so much Islamic rage and anger, as Geert Wilders pointed out in his film, that hatred is deliberately inculcated into Muslim children from a very early age. Compounding the problem is an intrinsic inability to come to terms with a secular modernity that relegates religious belief to the personal realm and that does not allow the followers of any one faith to impose their beliefs upon the rest of the world.

There is a part of me that wants to be tolerant of every person’s understanding of the deity but I have my doubts that the Islamic understanding can ever be reconciled with modernity and if it can not be reconciled then it must be opposed, denounced and resisted.

  1. Interesting, that they live in Britain, get welfare from British taxpayers yet refer to Iraq, Afghanistan and “palestine” as “our land”.
What a shining example of the success of multiculturalism, eh?
Why do we continue to import these murderous bastards into Western countries?

  2. To be fair Iain, there are many “Islamic understandings”.

Whilst I regret sounding like a lefty right now, these suspected terrorists are obviously the worst of the worst, and whilst we should be investigating why Islam produces types such as these, it would be wrong to think of all, or even most Muslims in this way.

Certainly some Islamic understanding are incompatible with Western culture. But to be fair, we should always remember that there are other Muslims who are law-abiding, and that it’s obviously only the bad ones who make the news, because they are obviously newsworthy.

  3. HOUSTON (Reuters) – Texas officials investigating a potential child abuse case said on Saturday 183 girls and women had been removed from a ranch that is home to a breakaway Mormon sect linked to jailed polygamist leader Warren Jeffs.

    When will these people integrate!

  4. “The core problem seems to me to be Islamic anti-Semitism which is the foundation of so much Islamic rage and anger…”…

Not that I would ever condone anti-Semitism, but there are a good many Muslims in the Middle East who have a damn good reason to be implacably hostile to the Zionist theocratic state of Israel. I’m thinking primarily of the Palestinians and those Lebanese who have suffered and still do suffer at the hands of Zionist militarism.

How much worse then is the indictment of the “secular modernity” of largely Xtian Europe that carried out the largest ever genocide of Jewish people in history, given that gentile Europe faced no threat from European Jewry, other than in their fevered imaginations…

  5. SM,

the truth is that the plight of these people is mainly brought upon by themselves. If they sided against the terrorists and helped defeat them, everyone knows that Israel would then leave them alone. Unfortunately, many of them are so consumed with hatred, and accept the Islamist narrative.

Israel has a right to defend herself. She should never have to apologise for this. The idea that a nation should have to put up with regular attacks from terrorists is untenable.

  6. Leon,
Israel itself was able to gain independence in large part due to the terrorism of Zionist groups such as the Irgun and Stern gang.

Israel, as it has continually demonstrated over the last few decades, will definitely not leave the Palestinians alone. The Zionist state has an insatiable hunger for territory and resources and continually acts to advance its ’strategic buffer’.

Your reading of the situation has placed reality on its head.
