Amani Amada and the folly of breast “enhancement”

'Suicidal' ... Amani Amada.SYDNEY dancer Amani Amada has launched legal proceedings against Swapan Chowdhury, saying a botched breast enhancement left her “suicidal”. She said she visited Dr Chowdhury more than 20 times for corrective surgery, all of which failed.

She said in 2005 he injected Aquamid – a permanent filler – into her breasts on five different occasions, leaving dents. She said more filler was added, creating further physical complications. “At one stage, the implant wasn’t even sitting in the breast itself but below the bottom.

One of the aspects of our society that I find quite disturbing is the prevalence of cosmetic surgery as just another commodity that we can choose to spend our money on. There are lots of deformities and disfiguring injuries that can clearly benefit from the surgeon’s deft wielding of the knife. However breast enhancements are very low on my list of worthwhile procedures. The results are very seldom at all natural in appearance and the fact that the actual function of the breast may forever be compromised suggests that in most cases a boob job is a very bad idea. My opinion on this issue was made even more certain when I acquired a load of silicone implants courtesy of a retired plastic surgeon. The implants are rather nasty pieces of kit actually, and a lot more fragile than you would expect, why any one would want to pay to have such things implanted in their bodies is entirely beyond me, but they do make excellent ice packs after being chilled in the freezer.
I do feel some sympathy for the woman who is suing her doctor but also I can’t help but feel that she should accept some responsibility for the results of her own vanity.

Cheers Comrades.
