What can I say to this? Maybe it is some sort of justice after all…
Reports are beginning to emerge that convicted terrorist David Mathew Hicks, also known as Mohammad Darwood was found dead in his cell at 12, 51 am Cuban time, his father Terry is of course devastated by the news.”for David to get this close to freedom and to die now is the cruelest twist of fate imaginable” he said through a veil of tears .
Greens leader Bob Brown was visibly angry” this is an example of the negligence of the American marine corps they have let this happen so that David Hicks can’t reveal the truth about his illegal detention” he claimed when interviewed.
Alexander Downer has released a statement saying” the Australian government has sent a “please explain, ” to the appropriate person and we will not rest until we find out the exact circumstances of Mr Hicks’s death”
Kevin Rudd was not available for comment but a spokes person said “Labor takes the death of any Australian in an overseas prison, particularly one like Guantanamo bay, with the utmost seriousness.” (source)

Thats a pretty sick joke Iain.
People usually play funny jokes on Apr 1 – nothing funny about wishing someone was dead.
Jeez – Get a life man…
PKD
I don’t wish him dead at all, I want him to have a long life and to consider what he has done for every day that he lives…
Wow – you’ve sure changed your tune from wishing he would take up air-dancing!
That’s the most pathetic April Fools joke ever, Iain. Ever.
Scott clearly you have no sense of humour
Clearly.
Sorry, Iain. I don’t speak emoticon.
How sad for you then Scott
Indeed.
And I bet you’re one of those poor souls leading the cry for “back to basics” literacy education who bemoan the yoof of today’s reliance on “SMS speak.”
I find it amusing that you should have such a hatred for emoticons if your last comment is to be read as a defence of SMS speak
Abbreviated and visual language has a role to play in certain places. It shouldn’t be ignored in schools but its appropriate use should be emphasised.
Personally I don’t use abbreviated “SMS speak” and I find it easier and more effective to transmit messages by words that by emoticons. That’s my personal preference. On the other hand, your “prose” has got to the point where emoticons outweigh words in much that you write.
Abbreviated and visual language has a role to play in certain places.
Yes Scott, and to my mind the comment threads in blog posts is a natural place to use emoticons (a form of visual language) because they provide cues to the authors intended tone that would require many more key strokes to say in words
Did somebody just take your photo? You’ve got red eyes.
Update: David Hicks is still alive. It was a failed suicide attempt. He tried to flush himself down the toilet.
[...] in particular… I missed out on celebrating April fool’s day – the tragedy – but when this is the standard of practical jokes this year, I’m not at all regretful. [...]
